Hi from Ajman - an hour drive away from Dubai

Post by slasher13 »

Hey there, Just thought I would post in, and say I'm alive ;). I am currently in Ajman, living in my parents apartment over here. It is lovely, just been to Dubai - Mall of Emirates which was lovely. Dubai/Abu Dhabi has really changed since I last been here, which was in 1998, so I'm really enjoying it. Loads of culture around, food is catered for everyone, and had a McDonald Beef burger and KFC for the 1st time, It being because over here it is Halal. It is a great city, took alot of pictures, which I will upload soon, when I travel back. I'm over here for 2 weeks, which ends on 9th Nov :(

Well hope everyone is cool :)

Take care

:), Their english is very good over here, There is alot of nationalities, Arab, Indians, Pakistani, Russian, Chinese, so everyone understands english over here. My wife speaks Arabic and Hindi, so she commuicates well with them, while I just watch. It is an excellent place, Highly recommended over here, Def I will upload the images. Food here is very cheap, 4 pounds will give you and your partner a large meal. Dubai is an up and coming country, technology wise, they gets imports from japan, So I been seeing 103' Inch HDTV which was just beautiful to see. PS3/Xbox360 seem to be strong here, while Wii is kinda lacking. They seem to be into RPG alot over here for the PC, as Guild War seem to be a popular game over here. The arcades are insane, the latest japanese arcades are here, and very popular. Will upload loads of pictures for you to see :)

Take care

Hey, good to har you're having fun, Slash!

So is living there, or just staying in hotels, also cheap? Or is that very expensive!?

Cause food and stuff in HK is cheap as hell, but actually living there seems pretty expensive...

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

It sounds a lot like Malaysia. That has equal numbers of Chinese, Indian and Malay's (I think they're called that).

What do you speak, English?

Hey Yi, It kinda the same as HK then, if you go into Abu Dhabi, it is pretty expensive, and Dubai, you kinda just need to hunt around. It great that the pound/euro is strong here, as I'm getting alot more for my money, so that may help :)

Yup I speak English over here, and most taxi cabs understand, you will not have any problem with hotels or shop owner, as most will speak in english here. It is the norm now. Another place I would love to visit is Malaysia, hopefully soon, just need to save up :)

Nice photos slasher. I presume the woman is your wife? Of course she is silly question. She's pretty. Dubai looks really nice and modern.

I see some of the women wearing Hijab's/veils are they strict at all about women wearing those? I see your wife isn't covering her head/face. In Malaysia you see women wearing full Islamic Hijab's/veils on top but jeans, dainty shoes and nail varnish on the bottom. It looks strange to say the least.

It's as if they want to be Islamic but at the same time are pulled so much to look more Western.

Dubai looks a lot like Malaysia although it looks cleaner and more modern. They have those big malls all over Asia, in Thailand too.

The Predator picture looks ace :D

Yup it is the same over there, they are not that strict on the clothes, but it should cover most of your body. They are not strict on headscarfs or veils.

Dubai is very modern, it is quite surprising, they have everything over there, I can see why Dubai is pulling people from the UK, my neighbour keeps on going over there every year, and now I can see why :)

Do you see women at the beach in swimsuits or bikinis? If so are Western women more accepted than Asian women?
