I was very lucky to get a DVD-9 original sealed copy of 'Gorgeous' (as with 'Accidental Spy'). HK Flix once sent me the DVD-5 Disc with a DVD-9 case! 'Gorgeous' now has 2.0 soundtracks only.

DDDHouse sent me the DVD-5 'King Of Comedy' as opposed to the advertised DVD-9.

Anyway, I'm not aware of front-cover differences for Gorgeous, but all three have images of the interactive menus on the back which will list the features (the best way to tell if you can't remember/don't know the front-cover differences). 'King Of Comedy' has black-only fonts on the front whilst 'Accidental Spy' drops the DTS logo.

The Myth was a great fun film IMO, should have been Armour of God 3.
I liked Gorgeous, it was romantic :)
The 'Invincible Fighter' DVD has burnt-in remastered subtitles, uncropped and easy to read. You sure you're not thinking of the inferior Ground Zero DVD ;)?

Don't tell me that was something else than a downmix of the horrible 5.1 remix.

I don't know what it was but it certainly wasn't anything that was found on the Universe disc. Quite honestly I don't care if the audio is 1.0, 2.0, 5.1, 6.1, 11.1... just have the original music and effects (in sync and decent quality) and I'm satisfied.

It definitely sounds like the usual ghastly Universe 5.1 remix to me.

You know I am usually a big fan of decent 5.1 remixes (although I am more picky than I used to be) but mostly HK studios are the worst in the business at creating them, Universal is no exception. I wish they learnt the word "restraint" in Hong Kong English class!

The only company as bad as Universe (and Mei Ah) at creating 5.1 remixes is Anchor Bay (Halloween aside, which they cannot have created). The DD5.1 and Newer DTS on "Withnail on I" are just atrociously bad. So is their "Long Good Friday".

Both are so ridiculously over the top. The Front Left/Right and Surrounds completely drown out all the dialogue trying to come from the Centre speaker. I don't get why the engineers (if you can call them that) would think this sounds okay let alone improves the film?

At least the dialogue is coming from the Centre speaker. Universe couldn't even manage that for their Tai Chi Master and Fong Sai Yuk DVDs. Those give me shivers just thinking about them.

Really? So they released it a third time then. I wonder if it's an improvement?

The version I have is bare-bones (bar some biographies) and has Cantonese or Mandarin DD5.1 but definitely no 2.0. The picture quality like I said is non-anamorphic and if that wasn't bad enough it looks awful to boot.

HK Flix listing stating DD2.0 and No extras:

It looks to be long since OOP though.

Donnie Yen was in Knights not Noon. I found Knights absolutely dreadful, it was painful for me to sit through it.

I'd forgotten about him, very annoying.

I thought most people preferred Knights as it had more Hong Kong style of action, no?

Speaking of Chocolate Milkshake I see his favourite Milkshake is branching out on her own. Pity.

While that is true, Noon is way better filmwise.

I've heard that Around the World in 80 Days is fairly good, how's that?

More power to her. The rest of the Pussycat Dolls were just glorified backup dancers anyway.

It's quite watchable appart from the horrible beginning. There's an incredible amount of cameos and some nice references to Jackie's HK movies. 2,5/5 stuff.

If a film is only worth 2.5 out of 5 in my book it must (mostly) suck.
thelostdragon wrote:While that is true, Noon is way better filmwise.
Definitely. Knights is really ropey.
EvaUnit02 wrote:More power to her. The rest of the Pussycat Dolls were just glorified backup dancers anyway.
Definitely but at least they had a stage presence. Now she just sounds like all the other pretty solo pop female singers.

The song in question is really bland and sounds like every other female pop singer.

Then that's in your book only. 2,5/5 is average on my rating scale (can you see the logic here?)

I quite enjoyed Around The World. That and Shanghai Noon are the only really good films in Jackie's post 2000 films

Nope :D . Average to me is 3 out of 5 or 6 out of 10. 2.5 out of 5 is only 50% meaning at least half of the film sucked ;) (okay not really on the second bit).

You heard wrong. It's very lame. I promise you won't like it.

The director is so inept he managed to shoot all around the globe and make everything look like a Burbank soundstage. No kidding!

Argh, she's not going keep "singing" is she. My ears bleed when that "music" comes on.

'Don't ya wish you girlfriend was hot like me?'

Not if she didn't keep her trap shut.

2,5/5 (or 5/10 if you prefer)* means average entertainment 8)

* I've notived some people consider 6/10 a lesser rating than 3/5. What's up that :?
