I want to see Running Sacred, mostly because I heard a lot of good things about it and cuz the director made The Cooler (which was pretty good).
Most people tend to avoid it because it has talent vacuum Paul Walker. Good filmmaking can get around rubbish actors in a lot of cases. Eg GOOD movies that star Clive Owen (he's one supreme wooden block).

Walker is pretty decent in it. Good film yeah (a sort of twisted fairy tale, which was something I really liked) but suffers from some irritating twists (sometimes the characters or the screenwriter do the opposite thing from what you were hoping for... e.g. just when things are about to solve some unlucky coincidence brings us back to the starting point) (<-- no story spoiler, but may help you guess how things'll develop generally in this movie, therefore tags). Surprisingly rough and violent on hollywood standards although the roughness sometimes feels too intentional (again, the fairy tale aspect really helps here).

i watched a few films on vacation, as follows
Tiger and the Snow 3/5
wanted to see this for ages, its a good concept, benigni is great, as usual. but something about the film wasnt right, i didnt like it as much as Life is Beautiful
The Simpsons 4/5
LOL! this is too cool, i agree most of th egreat stuff is in the trailer but it was still a great laugh.
Johnny Stecchino 4/5
too funny, very cool film, i like benigni alot. tho his character has to be one of the dumbest i ever saw The cocaine and religious guy scene LOOOOL
Project A 4.5/5
Took it to introduce my friend to Jackie Chan, he loved it, and i must admit its one of my favourite films. tho i prefer others far more lol, but great fight sequences as always.
I'm a Cyborg but thats OK 1/5
just...WTF....didntr get it, found it boring, just a strange and bad film...
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance 3/5
Over-long, cool concept but we got bored before the end.
Ong Bak 5/5
Introduced him to Tony Jaa, awesome film, he's now a fan. lol
Robin Williams Live on Broadway 5/5
Hilarious, even my friend could understand him which was great we were both laughing too hard at him...

benigni is great, as usual
The Last Boy Scout 4/5
They don't make action movies like this anymore... it's one cool motherfucker of a movie. Bruce Willis is at his cynical, sarky best here and Shane Black's dialogue still rocks. This was before Tony Scott started directing and editing as though he had ADD.

I love The Last Boy Scout. Fun action movie of the 90s that we so need in this day and age of fast edited steadycam MTV action movies.Markgway wrote:benigni is great, as usual![]()

Totally man. Paul Greengrass is like the only filmmaker that I can think of that can get the shaky cam + fast edits + medium shots combo to work. A good example of that style failing miserably is Transformers (2007), it was totally unfollowable at times.captainjoe wrote:I love The Last Boy Scout. Here, here. I was just thinking about this movie the other day. One of Bruce Willis' best roles IMO. Up there with John McClane. The dialogue never becomes tiresome, it always makes me chuckle everytime.

"Where d'ya get the suit, Grandpa? Gangsters R Us?"
I credit Shane Black and Quentin Tarantino as being two writers who made me want to be a writer myself.
And Tony Scott directed scripts from both of them in a row. He was my favourite director between Boy Scout and True Romance.
Hard to believe this is the same Tony Scott who made the lame, headache-inducing Man on Fire.
There aren't many movies I finish and think "damn, I wish there was a sequel" but Boy Scout is one.
Anyone who has doubts over Willis just need watch this film. His charisma and acting are top-notch.

Death Proof Unrated & Extended 3.5/5
Liked this a lot better in the longer version, although the script from Tarantino lacks his usual sharpness.features one of the best car chases i've seen in years and a superb soundtrack to boot. Kurt Russell is superb, full of sleazy menace & charm as Stuntman Mike. Some lovely women on show and a special mention to real life stuntwoman Zoe Bell playing herself, she is superb.

Absolutely excellent thriller. I didn't know anything about the killings before I watched this film so it was all fresh & new to me. Even though his part was only small, Robert Downey Jr was excellent, as always & it was enthralling from start to finish. Excellent.

Slow?! My god, it passed by so quickly for me! I was enthralled - I didn't take my eyes off the screen for the entire film. I didn't want to miss any little clues or anything like that. I'll have to watch it again when the Director's Cut comes out.
I think David Fincher is one of the only directors in Hollywood who consistantly produces top notch films. I mean, I can't think of a single film of his that I don't like.

Neither can I. Is a DC confirmed?
Yes slow, come on there is so much detail thrown at you for the entire length of the film. I bet almost everyone was confused at least one point of the film. There is too much detail (for once) and not enough to entertain.
I'm actually in two minds over 7/10 or a good 6/10. It's not one I'm in any rush to buy. Maybe when a HD SE comes.

Seems harsh, I know.
But movies are supposed to have a beginning, a middle and an ending.
Next has no ending. In fact, there's about 30 minutes of plot missing.
Looks like they gave up on the film after writing the first half of the script, but then decided to shoot it anyway.
I can't give points to a film that's not finished.
Liked the first 90 minutes of it. Hated it as a whole. Will definitely not buy the DVD.

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".
