I'm sure. A friend just emailed me a few minutes ago.
Also, according to this blog, DD's also putting out Jet Li's "Bodyguard From Beijing"!

Re: Eh?!
Is there a comparison of this with the HK FS DVD?RickyTheDragonSteamboat wrote:Crime Story DVD review:

Why? HKL did it all the time.chenlung wrote:Unless they've lost their Fortune Star contract, I cannot imagine it would be legally possible to do such a thing. Seems wrong.

I've always liked that one but so far it's recieved so bad treatment. Either a dodgy dubbed DVD or an atrocious VCD like DVD (which I used to own).

Brad,
can you give me an example? Why? HKL did it all the time.
'A Better Tomorrow 2' = The Media Asia print was probably already licensed/restored before FS came about and HKL felt no need to spend anymore money, or they were satisfied with their own restoration (even though FS's master looks better).

Re: Eh?!
I very much doubt the Fortune Star distribution rights come with the enforcement that they have to use their remastered prints, it's just easier for DD to buy them as well is all.chenlung wrote:Unless they've lost their Fortune Star contract, I cannot imagine it would be legally possible to do such a thing. Re: Eh?!
Maybe they didn't license it from FS. They may have chosen to use something aquired during their Miramax days.chenlung wrote:You sure?

Re: Eh?!
This seems more likely - from Media Asia.DangerousLeeHandsome wrote:Maybe they didn't license it from FS. They may have chosen to use something aquired during their Miramax days.chenlung wrote:You sure?

Muldoon (of the ADVDG) reckons that the Golden Princess catalogue will not see Fortune Star masters internationally because they're not part of the Fortune Star deal. That goes for HKL, DD and any other company outside of Hong Kong. The only place you'll see Fortune Star masters for Golden Princess films is in HK.

no Fortune Star transfer = no Fortune Star audio = safe buy
Fortune Star transfer = Fortune Star audio = no buy in most cases (depending on company to some extent, DD has been pretty good with FS so far from what I've heard)
I wish no one would license their releases from Fortune Star (I know they probably have to nowadays, but...)

Possibly Media Asia or Atlas International.chenlung wrote:This seems more likely - from Media Asia.DangerousLeeHandsome wrote:Maybe they didn't license it from FS. They may have chosen to use something aquired during their Miramax days.chenlung wrote:You sure?

FS' Killer DVD was pretty terrible all around. Poor transfer, poor 5.1 remixes, OOS mono. The Joy Sales re-release reportedly fixes the audio problem but I'm not buying it again.HungFist wrote:no Fortune Star transfer = no Fortune Star audio = safe buy
