Received ME this morning.

Watched the first 10 mins and i really cant wait to watch the rest. The picture looks very sharp but i think the edge enhancement has gone overboard, is this common with FS transfers ?

Just wondering, do HKL just use the same source as the HK DVD version, or is it the same transfer as well ? is it HKL who master this for DVD ?

First FS transfer ive got in my collection and the sub was rumbling during the logo, and got excitied. Then i thought who am i kidding, this is a 80s HK movie, the sound aint gonna be great. But no, the 5.1 mix sounds amazing (just like City on Fire). I have no idea about added effects since ive never seen this movie before, but thankfully the original mono is included for me to compare. But ill definately be watching it in 5.1 first as it does sound marvellous, with deep bass and real surround effects, and all crisp and clear, doesnt sound tinny at all.

What a great package.

How many versions of ME are there? Is there an international version or something with extra scenes?

I got mine today too.
For some reason the cover art doesnt quite fit my case properly (but its not bad). Oh well/

No, no, and no.

Sounded typical shit to me, but then I have no intentions of listening to anything other than the mono so clearly it's not aimed at me.

Three that I know of. Not counting local editions.
Fortune Star (HKL, previously found on the Tai Seng edition)
Media Asia (Universe DVD)
English Dub (Closer to the Fortune Star IIRC)

Eh???

The dubbed VHS was a 'PG' but the subbed version has a couple of rape references that I presume reclassified it '12'.

And yes, Monkey, the kissing scene is there. Biao, lucky barstool. Rosie Kwan is so cute.

HKL seem to release a lot of their test covers with 18 certs. That was what the cover art on their site said.

I sampled it. Couldn't suffer the whole thing. Crappy added foley and reedy echos. Yuck! Much prefer the richer, warmer mono. But hey, we're different. I think Jimmy, you and Bradavon are the only two people I know who like them.

The cinema release was a '15' back when there was no '12'. But I guess the difference between this film and My Lucky Stars is that the rape threat was made by a clear villain (Fan Mei Sheng) and not a hero. In Lucky Stars "gang-rape" is treated as a joke and it's made to look as though the good guys are seriously contemplating it before Sammo intervenes. The dubbed VHS of Millionaires' Express was a PG because the references were tone down (as was the case with the dub of Lucky Stars). These off-colour jokes don't play well internationally. Which is why Wong Jing would have a hard time with the BBFC.

yeah i kinda figured it had added effects when i watched it. But it in no way sounded 'hollow' to me. But ill definately watch it with the original mono next time.

It was a great movie, there was a lot less kung fu than i was expecting, all saved for the big finale. But thankfully it was entertaining all the way through. I could actually tolerate Eric Tsang in this one

watched it last night, BIG dissapointment

1 hour set up and then some action, far too long to wait and it just never came close to a classic at all

Yeah was thinking the same at first, but it was so entertaining i didnt care. Plus the ending made up for it.

It did have the Sammo Yuen Biao fight at the train station in the mid section which was quality !!
