Tartan has Cantonese Mono and a transfer that's as good as if not better than the DD so why bother with it - except for the extras?

Have you checked out the Beaver comparison? That's why. While not up to the Frenchie transfer it's clearly better than the Tartan.

Not that I'll be bothering to upgrade. I've little interest in the DD extras and the film alone isn't good enough to warrant an upgrade, the Tartan is already decent.

The DD is softer than the Tartan and the BMG which is arguably the best image overall. There are better (ie. more complete) comparisons on the net. We should have another one at the ADVDG pretty soon.

What on earth is the BMG? Both the Tartan and DD look as soft to me.

I know it's funny isn't it. It used to have more caps but they were so small I guess they removed them.

Awesome. Bey Logan has transformed into a hot chick. :D
The rest of the features are largely filler pieces. Hard Boiled Location Guide (8.48) is presented by the zesty and humorous Kea Wong,

Sorry, EMS, not BMG.

I got my acronyms mixed up.

Got it, a little to cryptic for me, they also used to be much longer. Michelle Yeoh in Teresa Mo's part wouldn't have worked IMO.

Oh the German DVD I don't think I've seen captures for that, is it HD Remastered? How does it compare to the French DVD then?

It is part of our comparison I think, it comparable to the French release. LD prolly has it.

Yes I have it and I have posted comparison caps in the respective thread.

The Killer 2 disc Ultimate Edition in November?
http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID.543 ... etails.htm
It wasn't on the release calendar. I'm guessing either the Shaws or Jet Li's have been postponed.

Also in November: No Mercy for the Rude 2 disc Ultimate Edition

Thanks Ricky. Shame I'd prefer the Jet Li's to The Killer. I'm happy enough with my HKL for that one.

I wonder how the new Bey Logan commentary will differ.

I hope both Tai Chi Master and Fist of Legend are released on time. If the Shaws or Fortune Star's were delayed I wouldn't care.

On another note, I'm very satisfied with DD's release of Crime Story but I'll have to admit that I still prefer the HKL subs. I don't know. Maybe it's because I saw that version first.

I might get the Hard Boiled UE for the extras, but I'm done with The Killer. Got the HKL and IVL remaster.

Fist of Legend wont be released on time. It will never be released. It's like Duke Nuke 'M Forever. And if by some weird twist of faith it WILL somehow someday be released... I'm sure they'll have managed to screw it up somehow...

They are assholes, over at Weinstein. All they have to do is just FUCKING RELEASE IT!!!!!!! Who gives a fuck about Bey babling on and on and on about Donnie Yen and HIS thoughts on Jet Li, etc etc... just release the movie and move on, idiots. We've waited for far too long. It's 13 years old already! We're already in the next-gen HD era, and now they are finally coming with the DVD? Possibly? And now what? Wait another 10 years before we'll get the HD/BR?
Fuck them!

The Killer HKL is 2 euros at a local store btw. (Actually 3 euros, but it's a 5 for 10 action)

@ Yi - Yawn!

@ Grim - Yes that's correct the HKL was originally to be a 2 disc release.

@ Eva - Which do you prefer?

HKL. The contrast on the IVL is too high and it also has horrible subs.

The problem with DD is that they'll use IVL's image and subs so we already know what it's gonna be like.

If the HKL had original mono it would ideal.

I'm not completely sure but I don't think DD will use a Fortune Star master for The Killer. ABT 1&2 and Hard Boiled were licensed from Atlas International so The Killer might be from the same bunch.

Fortune Star doesn't have Hard Boiled anyway
