Live Free or Die Hard: Rated R for DVD

Post by grim_tales »

When LFoDH comes out on DVD it will be rated R - unlike most films these days which seem to be "Unrated" on DVD (R1 I mean).

Strange it isn't unrated as they use that as a marketing tactic but otherwise it's good news.

I wonder if he's aware of all the (possible) minute cuts and alterations though?

Justin Long, of all people, pointed out that he witnessed alternate R-rated takes of scenes being shot for future release. I REALLY wanted to see this in theaters, but once the PG-13 rating was official, I just don't have the heart in it... but if it is R on DVD, I'm definately checking it out.

The theatrical was easily the most violent PG-13 I've ever seen. The only thing that kept it from being an R was the language. There's no f-bombs, but Willis makes the most out of "jerk-off, dickhead, etc." :)

No doubt it was held back to get PG-13 rated bums on seats then to take more more cash by releasing it uncut later.
