Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances): R1

Interlacing, DO NOT WANT.

So much for Rightstuf boasting about "having the most advanced DVDs ever encoded" when the transfers are fucking interlaced.

Ignoring interlacing anyway, the transfers on the r2j/r3k are superior full stop.

I recall hearing the R1 is a total disaster. Was it cut even?

Don't think so, not sure. Thought it just had a mediocre transfer.

I found a cap comparison with the R3K. Even though the resolution is ridiculously small (What a fucking boneheaded idea.), it is evident that the R3 has better colours.

Sampling the R1, I see plenty of frame judder and dirt. What went wrong? They must've been supplied with worn television masters.

EDIT:
Even I was to buy the R3, would I be able to replicate the R1's subtitles? I can see why they boasted about the programming, they've achieved entirely with the limited soft subs supported by MPEG2 what fansubbers normally do with hard subs.

You can rip the vobsubs and use those.

I still need to get around to buying the Korean release.

Up to episode 12. Oh christ, these transfers are taken from terrible masters. But the show is so good, can't stop watching.
