All three of them stars have made some superb films, but all together in one film just feels wrong.

The Killer - Rewatched HKL Version - 5/5

Hard Boiled - - Rewatched Collector Edition - Tartan 4.75/5

I watched these two back to back, and perfer The Killer, it has a better story I feel to it. Hard Boiled has great action scenes, better than Killer, but the story of friendship between Elder, Cop and the Killer is excellent. The church scene are the end with the exploding Mary statue is quite haunting.

"The Killer" is definitely the better film of the two. "Hard Boiled" to me is nothing more than a huge actionfest.

"The Killer" is an Asian masterpiece, will rewatch it soon

Reminds me I have to see Le Samourai too (probably watched it after I'd seen The Killer), got it from my college library.

Dude, Chow Yun-fat took on the trend and has it as well in "Curse of the Golden Flower". A white long, very soft, thin and white hair sticking out of his face.

An interesting listen, not as info loaded as Bey was though.
The "Platinum" print had Chinese letters on the credits. Must've been a different print.

Don't forget the outstanding remaster job HKL did too. TBB has never looked so good IMO. Agreed the commentary isn't as good but it's okay. I've kept my 1 disc HKL.

The Killer and Hard Boiled are good, 7 out of 10 in my book. They're better than ABT but not masterpieces IMO.

All versions of the Fountain are cut... i.e. a redited version from the original R rating.

Hope the studios release an R-rated version one day... the opportunity's there for a director's cut.

I'm exactly the opposite. I much prefer Hard Boiled over The Killer.
Hard Boiled has me hooked from start to finish, whereas The Killer gets quite boring after a few viewings. Furthermore I feel The Killer has dated quite badly, with the big jackets and sunglasses... whereas Hard Boiled still looks great and 'modern'.

Finally, Tony Leung is just so awesome in Hard Boiled.

I never really liked Danny Lee, and Chow Yun fat's character comes straight from a comicbook

I do like The Killer, but for me, Hard Boiled just blows it away with two barrels blazing.

Trust me, Yi. If you know the story, the scene in front of the bus absolutely makes sense and is just hilarious, especially with all these Japanese schoolgirls (where's grim?) starring and squeeking at the two.

TBH I'd be hard pressed to choose my favourite of the two titles. I do feel that Hard Boiled is slow to get going, but once it does, it gets really spectacular. I'd definitely say it has the best action of the two.

Hmmm... I dont know. I would have to take a pretty good writer to make that scene 'make sense'. A schoolbus ful of japanese girls; that's just unrealistic!

I'll catch it on TV in a few years orso, might give it a try.

The problem is that I just dont care about Statham. I dont feel he's a very convincing actor, he's a very mediocre action-star, and his scrappy voice does nothing for me.
I've seen him in about 3 movies.
In Snatch he was OK. Not a lead role, so no real acting strains... and no action.
In The One he was gawdawfull. but so was pretty much everyone else in that flick.
But The Transporter was shite as well. It started of nice, a bit like a breezy French action flick... but after a while it just became ridiculous and over the top and just CRAP.

Just one of those guys that you just dont care about.
Hey, maybe one day, Crank will convert me into a fan. But I doubt it.

The trailer for his new Jet Li flick look shite as well btw. It's a shame that Jet Li still lends his talents for such movies.

It starts with a 10 minute shootout in a teahouse, ending with a brilliant blast! Who can forget CYF's face covered in dough and blood!? Awesome.
That's not a slow start in my book

I also LOVE the library hit by Tony, and the confrontation between Tony and CYF at the car, and the Warehouse, and and and... gawd I just love that movie. Watched it many times over the years (I now have the HK DVD...) and it's just a firm top 10 favourite.
