Agreed the CGI monster was pretty awful but I still enjoyed it. Personally I found the Dalek episodes lacking, sure they weren't a disaster they just weren't great either.
The episode just gone was very good though, probably the best of the series so far.
That said IMO, so far series 3 is the weakest of the 3 New Series. The stores aren't as good as they used to be, and it's almost as if it's being done by the numbers. I have high hopes for the latter series though, we should be finding out some great stuff about the Doctor and his past, hopefully.
So far for me Series 2 has been the best, that had some tosh too but overall it was excellent, great writing and lots of fun. There's no way they'll top the Series 2 Finale for a long time to come.
. Tame is the perfect word to use.
p.s - Why on earth would you put a button on the outside of a ship though??? That was really dumb. That comment will make sense when you've seen the latest episode, no it's not a spoiler.

I'm thinking the sameslasher13 wrote:I think this season Doctor Who has started off quite slow, compared to the other 2 season. It may be me, because 1st Season, was the 1st Doctor Who for ages with Chris Ecceleton, and Season 2 beginning was the new doctor - David Tennant, so after that, it does seem season 3 is a bit tame

I had a good laugh at this the last episode, it was so cheesy. Felt like an ultra low rent Event Horizon. "BURN WITH ME."
I too thought that Season 2 was the best thus far.
It's probably because RTD (the primary creative force behind the new Who series) has moved onto Torchwood and left this show dangling in the wind. Is there some sort of Dr Who/Torchwood crossover thingy coming soon?bradavon wrote:That said IMO, so far series 3 is the weakest of the 3 New Series. Really. I didn't think it was cheesy.
AFAIK Dr. Who and Torchwood aren't filmed at the same time so why would RTD be concentrating on Torchwood exclusively?
I'd say some kind of cross over is coming for sure. In last weeks Jonathan Ross Show they showed a clip from a forth coming Dr. Who episode and it had Captain Jack running towards the Tardis, it definitely looked like it went on from where Torchwood ended. Not that I followed Torchwood.

I'm guessing that the finale may've something to with (an)other surviving Time Lord(s), going the Face of Bogg's dying words in the Giant Enemy Crabs episode. Or it could involve Torchwood doing something to the Doctor.
Crap like that fountain of youth machine episode makes me appreciate the Giant Enemy Crabs episode far more.

Oh boy last Saturday's episode was a corker, easily the best of the series so far, and it's two parter too. The ending was especially excellent.
I doubt they'll be able to top it this series. They took long enough but finally something great. The story is based on a novel written during the time Dr. Who was off the air btw.
Eva you may want to check out some of the old Who, especially Tom Baker's Genesis of the Daleks (it shows he they become created). That's excellent, a bit padded out in places but overall excellent. Back then a whole series would often cover one story, this was a 6-parter of 25-30 minute episodes.

Show cancelled, BBC should go to hell.
HIT show Doctor Who will be EXTERMINATED next year — after the fourth series.
Boss Russell T. Davies has decided to axe the BBC1 sci-fi drama and concentrate on other projects.
He and senior staff have hatched a plot to hand in a group resignation in summer 2008.
A source said: “The heavy workload — nine months of 16-hour days every year — has started to take its toll.
“It was decided the best thing for the show was go out at the top next year.”
Davies was behind the relaunch of Doctor Who in 2005 — 16 years after it was originally axed.
The series, starring David Tennant as the Time Lord, is watched by eight million every Saturday.

What's your source? I ask as that was reported in our "always" accurate Sun newspaper and later rebuked to say in reality after Series 4 a new crew will come on board.
So Davies is off but not the show. I'd be surprised if the Beeb would axe it entirely. They've done it before but back then it was a case of the head of the BBC hating the show, he tried to kill it off before it finally went but outcry brought it back.
It's too popular and almost everyone is a fan.

I'm now caught up on the last three episodes. 9 was fantastic. I'd rate it along side Dalek from S1 and Girl in the Fireplace from S2 as one of the best episodes.
10 was okay and 11 was exciting. So the Master is running for British PM. I wonder what he's plotting?
I had forgotten that Jack Harkness was bi 'Twas funny how he tried to flirt up anything with a pulse, including the insect girl.

RTD says Jack isn't anything he'll hump whatever moves. Episode 9 was the second of the two parter right? 10 was better than it should've been but I still wish they wouldn't pull an episode without Dr. Who just to save some time.
IMO the Master's re-generating into someone way younger was a mistake, he's too young. And from a mythology point of view A: Time Lords cannot choose how old they'll be, the Doctor certainly cannot. There was an episode where he couldn't make his mind what he wanted to look like so the Timelord elders decided for him.
And B: Technically The Master used all his 11 (I think it's 11 or is 13) lives in the TV Movie from 1996, which was shit but is still part of the series.
Okay it's nitpicking it's still great to see him back. Even if David Jackabee looked way more menacing than the new guy.

Eric Robert was pretty good I thought,.... errr well until the end when the cape came out, didn't like the cgi-snake for the master at all.
Just watched
Gridlocked Ep 3 - Quite enjoyed this, nice to see what happens to Newx11 York
Human Nature and The Family of Blood was quite good, I quite enjoyed them
Blink was bloody mavellous, the best episode of Season 3 I think, everything fits in here, and the story dealing with time is soo excellently done
Utopia - At last the Master is back!!, Yeah!!!. Loved this episode, now can't wait for the next one, I thought this series was lagging, but now it seems to be back on fine form!!

Ahh but you forget that the master went back into human form, with the master essence in the watch, so it may be said, that in the doctor who mythology, that when he has done this, he can extend his lives or it has been reset, as he did say he is reborn. And B: Technically The Master used all his 11 (I think it's 11 or is 13) lives in the TV Movie from 1996, which was shit but is still part of the series.

You preferred Blink to The Family of Blood??? WOW that's unusual. Dr. Who was barely in Blink.
So maybe.
I seem to remember The Master being able to get one more life before or something like that.Ahh but you forget that the master went back into human form, with the master essence in the watch, so it may be said, that in the doctor who mythology, that when he has done this, he can extend his lives or it has been reset, as he did say he is reborn.

Yup, The story is pretty strong, then it doesn't require the presence of the Doctor in every scene, he pops up giving vital clue, it was a risk, but this episode worked it out. I did like Family of Blood, especially the scene was the doctor is crying, saying you want to kill John, isn't he alive, that was one of the best scene in all 3 series, as it was quite touching, and you felt for him, but overall story, I liked Blink. Plus it was quite creepybradavon wrote:You preferred Blink to The Family of Blood??? WOW that's unusual. Dr. Who was barely in Blink.
Thing is about Sci-Fi, is that rules can be changedI seem to remember The Master being able to get one more life before or something like that.

Actually if you go to the following site: http://www.votesaxon.co.uk/, you will see how Saxon is linked or mentioned in some of the past episodes!!. Excellent, Kinda missed some of them

Last night's episode was bloody excellent. I still think John Simm's is too young to play The Master but that said it did a fantastic job hamming it up. Great to see a 3-parter. I was hoping they'd extent a story past 2 episodes but shame next weeks is the end of the series
. Still it should end on a high.
Overall I still think Series 2 has been consistently the best of the 3. They pulled it out of the bag half way through of Series 3 but the first half was a bit poor.
Next weeks should be awesome. I better not say any more until Eva has had a chance to see it.
