Video:

This is a very impressive image. There were some bad initial discs from Sony when Blu-ray first hit the market (Fifth Element, House of Flying Daggers) but I think they've finally hit their mark because many of their recent discs are very impressive. This film was made to look good and it looks great. It has a highly stylized look that comes across the screen very nicely. I never really had any complaints except for a few shots that could've look more detailed. All together this is a great looking title. If you're a fan of the film then this title will be a perfect replacement for your DVD.

Audio:

One thing I admire about Blu-ray is that many of the companies release titles with lossless sound, something not as common on HD-DVD. Here, as usual with Sony titles, we have an uncompressed PCM track hitting around the 4.5 MBPS on the disc. The difference between the standard Dolby and this is huge. Even when one doesn't have a mega-sound system they will still get a better experience with PCM. Crisp, clear, there really is nothing else I can say about it. Not one that disappoints. The only criticism of PCM tracks I can note is that they take up a lot of space. But the fact remains, they stay very true to the original soundtrack.

Extras:

Everything from the standard definition DVD is carried over, something you don't see too often from Sony. The commentaries and featurettes are all here. This is also one of the few titles that has Blu-Wizard. This interactive program allows you to select which features you want to watch in any order and then it plays your selections. Basically you control what you watch during your behind the scenes experience.

Final Thoughts:

Resident Evil: Apocalypse is not the best film ever made but the Blu-ray is a Class: A disc with crisp picture, wonderful sound and all the bonus materials from the DVD.

Hey one thing is both films are nothing at all in any way alike :) you may well like part 2.

I would love the Blu Ray dvd :( but its the short cut :( I will keep my german extended cut as its far better, and hope that the extended cut comes on on HD. Its a joke they didnt add the footage back in for the HD version! idiots!
