Fun, isn't it? How they go from Thai box arena to the final showdown on that parking lot or whatever that was, with the fountain in the middle of the place.Knetan wrote:Duel Of Fists 3/5
Chang Cheh takes a break from actual cinema to make a Thailand travel documentary with David Chiang and Ti Lung. Boy is it fun, irrelevant stuff from the legend. It's a mess too but once you acknowledge what you're in for, you'll be amazed at the poor pacing, prolonged sequences and David's groovy wardrobe.
Actually, that's all I remember from that film. According to my DVD Profiler I gave it 3/5 too back then (like 4 years ago or so). I think this was the film that made me realize that Ti Lung used to have hair.

Death Note (live action film) - 2/5
Bad casting ruined this for me. Light is supposed to be an over-the-top cunningly evil motherfucker, Battle Royale's Nanahara comes off as a stoic retard. Otherwise not too bad of an adaptation at all. I hear that the sequel is an absolute travesty though.
I don't recommend anyone actually purchasing this film though, just download it.

hey,
Running On Empty 1/5
Poor real life retelling of a 1970s bank robbery in HK. Sloppy and rarely involving.
Majestic Thunderbolt 3/5
Godfrey Ho cut & splice fun.
Requital 2.5/5
Chu Yen-Ping in thievery/emulating mode again but rarely is it irritating plus his ultra gory take on gangster genre matter is enjoyable. Quality cast.

Triple Cross - 4/5
Late Fukasaku delivers the best car chase film of the past 15 years. The amazing 10 minute street fight /chase sequence near the end is like Michael Mann meets William Friedkin. On the downside Keiko Oginome gets irritating at times.
Kalifornia - 3,5/5
Some problems around the halfway but the rest is great. Nice cast too, I especially loved Juliette Lewis.
Octopussy - 3/5
Moore's worst Bond. Still good, though.
