Do you have your brain switched to neutral or something? Of course pinkification makes a negative difference? If some people are too hard on DD then you're one step away from licking their balls, mate.

Not necessarily him, but maybe as successful. I was just being anal about you being anal. :D
Stop saying anal you're turning Eva on.

Nah, he couldn't possibly be as I got too tired of long distance relationships and NZ would be a VERY long distance.

So you only earn the right to tag your name onto something if you deem the person's films as good enough... a touch subjective no?

What I mean is the general consensus is that the films are great so I can understand the desire in the suits wanting to stick his face on them. But what the hell's Ratner done that makes him name worth mentioning? Do people know or care who Ratner is?

Well, if you wanna play that game, Brett Ratner's movies have made more money at the Box Office that Tarantino's.

Yeah, but Tarentino has also built himself up as a celebrity in the way Alfred Hitchock and Walt Disney did. He may not be able to match his hype but if it means the stores give the Shaw films some decent promotion I'm all for it

Totally disagree. I love the early Beatles tracks. Pops songs par excellence. Although some of the 66-70 songs were class there was too much self-indulgence thrown into the druggie-hippy mix.
Agree (on the 1st part). They made some excellent pop with their early stuff. :)

Quentin Tarantino is easily the most famous Asian film fan in the world. Putting his name on the cover of a DVD guarantees sales. I'm not losing any sleep over casual HK film fans in America thinking QT had something to do with Chungking Express or any other HK film for that matter.

I'm not denying that. I seriously hate the fat guy. I think I have every reason to do so, based on the past. I think he's tremendously bad for us asian movie fans, while pretending he's our saviour or something.
The more you think about it, the madder you get :)

Why would I respect other opinions when they're obviously wrong?? 8)

Seriously, no offence intended. I was suffering PMS at the time.

I still think QT is a media whore though... when was the last time you saw something like Martin Scorcese Presents Rio Bravo?

Hey as long as QT doesn't do what Francis Ford Coppola did to Napoleon. He cut tons of footage out of the existing restoration back in the 80's. and recently has tried to suppress legit screenings of Kevin Brownlow's new restoration and Carl Davis's score just becuase his dad scored the shorter version

Don't forget Rio Bravo has John Wayne - a US icon. Aside from funky dudes like you and I, when was the last time the US public went nuts over Jimmy Wang Yu?

Jesus Fucking Christ, that is shocking. It's bad enough that Coppola revises his own (Anyone who thinks that Redux is the superior version of Apocalypse Now is an idiot.), but someone else's? Fuck that asshole man, he only made like 4 films that are worth two shits anyway.

I know, disgraceful. If he likes his father's score so much, why not have someone adapt and expand it to fit the new one. It's been done with actual 1920's silent film scores when only some sheet music has survived so a music score 25 years old should be a walk in the park

We're in Blue-Ray/HDDVD era now: Just release both versions.
Anyway, like I said before: People who had nothing to do with a certain movie, shouldnt be allowed to cut/alter it. Simple.
If you buy the rights, either release it as it is, or you just shouldnt have bought the rights. If you dont like it, dont buy it. I wish I was a fucking billionaire: I'd buy the Mona Lisa, and have her smile painted over... see how people like it.

Well said, Yi-Long. Didn't one of the Japanese anime directors put it in his contract he'd only sell the rights if they left the film intact

A studio doesn't let a director have final cut on a film and that director's original vision is left unseen. Alternatively the original director was fired after completing photography on say 80% of the film and the new director reshoots a whole lot of scenes but still uses some the original director's footage. Several years later film scholars find the long lost scrapped footage that original director shot, he is long dead at this point. They may or may not have that original director's notes. They shouldn't be allowed to construct a version of the film that attempts to realise how the original director might've made the film if he had final cut? As long as the butchered theatrical version is still available in some form, then it shouldn't be a problem.

I wonder who David Chute is? I'm sure he used to provide reviews for Amazon.com.
I'd rather have Bey than Quentin and the RZA
