Well then it's a no brainer for the HK DVD then really. I wonder if the HK DVD's extras have English subs like Fearless: DC.

Not that it matters too much as the R1's extras look rubbish.

Cut Horsefalls can ruin a film, watched Conan the Barbarian a while back the UK cuts are a joke! staggeringly badly cut, ruin the entire ending.

BUT saying that a lot of the falls are nasty and many horses are put down performing such stunts, they dont even get reported that they died a few weeks later or even worse they died before they did the stunt as the practise killed them

Just see it in the sodding cinema shit dvd wont do it justice at all.

If you like horses so much LD why would you want to see them be tripped up with wires?

Horsefalls can be done safely if anyone bothers.

Have we forgotten Crouching Tiger already? Or Anna and the King (different period though :D)?

Somehow I have another image of Mr Chow in a period "drama" put I can't put my finger on it... I blame the flu :D
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

I agree with Mark and Chenlung. Do you mean you appreciate the filmmakers vision LD? Fair do's, but in no way would I want to see animals get hurt for its own sake :? I don't see how you can say that

I don't like to see animals getting hurt. I like to see slow motion horse stunts, no matter if they fall or jump as to me it looks spectacular. Anyone who has a problem with me having no problem with that can go and vacuum-clean the desert.

Saw this the other day. Better than HoFD but pretty poor.

I have also just seen it. It's unfortunately very bad :( Very boring and very little action.
This one won't make my "want list".

I thought this was disappointing. The audience ended up laughing out loud - it was unintentionally funny.

What happened Yimou? You used to be cool.

whilst the action was pretty good, and CYF was awesome in his portrayal, the story; whilst there, was lacking i think that it could've been done better. tho i do see why some guys attentions are held...lots of cleavage. some guys in th ecinema were actually leaning forward when they boobies came on screen

Well as I suspected you're all wrong. Like Hero & HOFD it was excellent.

I don't know why you guys bothered (that's a general statement) you didn't like HOFD so it's unlikely you'll like Yimou's post Hero way of film-making. I wouldn't bother.

I loved all the intrigue, double crossing, back stabbing, it felt very Shakespearen and oh man the battle was flipping huge. I was loving the oodles of cleavage, some ahem were so tight they were bouncing all over the place. Sorry I had to say that ;)

I still think of the 3 HOFD is the best, and of the 4 Yimou films I've seen (Road Home being the other) it's the best.

It was a Sunday night, there was a grand total of 7 people in the cinema including me :D . I bought the HK DVD weeks back (which btw is the way to go, better than the R1) but ended up seeing at the cinema. I'm glad I did Yimou films really come to life on the big screen.

Did you leave 20-30 minutes before the end? He saved it all up for some almighty action and a huge battle. I fail to see why it needs to be action every few minutes anyway.

You saw a differnt film to me, it was long, boring, not much happened and it was far too drawn out. Even the end fight didnt exactly work too much, just didnt impress me at all.

Chow Yun Fat was so badly used it scared me, he didnt do anything in the entire film!

Still its a 3 or 2.5 star film for me, worth a watch for sure, but not sure about paying much cash to own it thats for sure. Where the cash went is beyond me, on sets and costumes I presume.

i too loved HoFD and Hero, Curse isn't a bad film perse but it isn't a great film either. just pretty average. and when CYF was on screen he was great, however i agree with romero that he could have been used better.
