FYI...
DD have been having talks about buying up that lot of kung fu holdings over the last few months. I think the chances are VERY good.DangerousLeeHandsome wrote:That last line caught my eye a bit. Maybe its nothing but hopefully it will turn into something positive. Thats all!

Above the law is a much better name. I have not watched this film in just under 10 years and i remember watching it and thinking it was like the best movie ever at the time. In the film in the final battle does Yuen do like a bicycle kick? But then again when i watched it i was about 10 and i thought Jackie Chan was in it....Should've stuck with Righting Wrongs. Above The Law just happens to be the title of my personal favorite Steven Seagal flick so it kinda sucks that DD will yet again use the title of a film that already exists (i.e. The Protector).
I'd save my money. I thought Crime Story was garbage. A real let down. True it was not Project A part 2 bad but still disappointing.I was going to get the HK Remastered Crime Story

Just finished watching DD's Born To Fight and I noticed a few things were different: first, DD's version has a title card but its not a crudely tacked on logo like HKL's Crime Story, it looks more like an export print or perhaps one tailord for DD (I'm only assuming). Lastly, in one of the final scenes, there's a shot of the monk boy walking and you can see some lame looking CG smoke in the background. In DD's version, there's no smoke at all. Thats all.

Additionally, there's also an altered shot of a biker hitting a pick-up truck and flying into a dirt pit. In the first angle, which was a split-screen shot, the truck drifts into position and you hear the biker smash into it, but there is no biker! (You hear him, but he's not there!) Cut to a second angle. Now he smashes into the truck. Seems like a rough unfinished FX shot to me.

Extras are a bit thin. As always, disc 1 features another Bey Logan commentary in which he talks non-stop for the entire 95min film. Pretty entertaining. The only worthwhile piece on disc 2 is a 65min retrospective with Panna, Prachya, Dan Chupong and some of the athletes who show up in the film. They basically sit there and talk about their bumps and bruises with behind-the-scenes footage spliced in. Next is a 5min EPK showcasing the cast and their amazing skills. (I think this is also on the UK DVD as a featurette titled "The cast of Born to Fight"). Then the usual trailer gallery rounds things up.
My thoughts: Not worthy of the term "Ultimate Edition" but not a bad DVD.

What has that got to do with the fact that it is a Thai film? Because as you might remember, the PA disc of "Bang-Rajan" is packed with exclusive extras (interviews).bradavon wrote:I guess to be fair it is a Thai film so extras aren't going to be easy to get hold of. It's much better than the UK or Aussie versions.

DD's Born To Fight is uncharacteristically light for a 2 disc "Ultimate Edition" but I'd much rather sit though an entertaining 1 hour long documentary as suppose to 2 hours of subtitled interviews. My 2nd disc to 'Kill Zone' has not left the disc tray since I last tried (and failed) to sit through it last september when i first bought it.

Seems perfectly clear to me.thelostdragon wrote:English please, lol.bradavon wrote:What has one release got to do with it being a Thai film so extras won't be as readily available?thelostdragon wrote:What has that got to do with the fact that it is a Thai film? Anyway weren't all those interviews etc nearly created? Also this was back in the days when PA discs were quite feature stacked.
Brad means what has the example of Bang-Rajan got do with the pre conceived idea that "It is a Thai film, so there will be less extras"? That is just one example, it may not be typical.

See LD it wasn't hard to understand at all
. You're citing one example as if it's the norm.
Thai films are made on such low budgets where the actors/crew make it and move on. DD would have to go to Thailand and film interviews etc... Which obviously they've done but it doesn't mean they'd do it for all releases.
As DangerousLee as so rightly said I'd prefer just one 60 minute great extra than hours of crud ones. HKLs/DDs Interview heaven/hell can get a bit much.
