Thought the high-definition trailer was amazing, so I decided to try this one.
Not good enough.
There's a lot of good stuff in this movie.
The story is quite good, touching even.
Djimon Honsou is amazing, and many secondary characters are quite charismatic.
DiCrapio is better in this film than he usually is, but his
death scene is pathetic. I can't tell whether it's his acting or if it's the director's fault, although I'd be willing to bet on the former.
Connelly's character, however, is predictably useless. I blame the screenwriter.
Sadly, most of the gunfight scenes are repetitive and boring. There's a disturbing lack of tension throughout. They should be gripping and scary, but they just aren't.
And to add insult to injury, the score is pretty much forgettable apart from a couple of good bits. With such an epic scope, it should have been huge.
But worse than that, there's no passion. Blood Diamond is not bad, but it's just 143 minutes of film, nothing more.
The ending is great, and while it would almost make me want to buy the DVD, Leonardo's
death scene ruins it for me.
It's funny how one little scene can fuck up a film. It doesn't happen very often, but sadly it does happen.
Watched it once. Was disappointed. Won't buy the DVD.

Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".
I feel is getting better and better as an actor. He has a good south african accent and is pretty much spot on. Like Tom had previously mentioned Djimon Honsou steals the show, he is truely outstanding in this, I really liked him and prob the only reason for liking this movie so much. I would prob buy this on DVD, would love to see a documentary on conflict diamonds.
, I really loved this movie from Full Moon Production, it is the first time I see any of the Puppet Master films, and it is pretty good. The only problem is that I was wanting more gore in this, they shy away from it, the puppet animation is pretty good, and love the puppet POV camera style. Would def watch the sequels now.
It was nice to see Jackie make a return to playing his most famous character (kind of), recalling the classic Police Story films, and I also liked the fact he is not a "superhero" kind of person, but seeing Jackie getting drunk and crying a lot isn't really a substitute for good, dramatic acting.
