Ultimate Versus - 3 Disk Version - Coming on 27th March

Post by slasher13 »

There is the 3 disk version of the directors cut of Versus, I def going to pick this up :)

Here is a review of it:

Think I will keep my old 2 disk Media blaster version, as the new version will not have the original cut :(

I waited for this for long before I realized the original version is actually far superior. The new scenes aren't that good and they make the film worse. Also, I don't think MB will be able to come up with a transfer on par with the french theatrical cut dvd (although it's irritatingly missing the colour filters at the end... but it's a lose 10 min - win 105 deal).

Lets see Media Blasters trying to beat this

Still interesting to see how their transfer turns out. It took them so many years to get it released. The extras look great. Good enough to consider buying this. Damn.

Who ever gets this first please post caps.

I so want this. But agree that the extended ultimate edition is an inferior cut.

Bout time, Media Blasters suck with their unexplained delays with everything. Probably too busy coming up with lame pun retitles for their hentai aquistions (eg "Elfen Laid").

Damnit, I'm not gonna get yet another DVD release of this film. As much as I love it, but I think a dozen of special editions are enough.

Forgot to add if you ever bought the past 2 dvd version of this on Region 1, they shuved the second dvd in a little paper bag! that was appauling!

This new 3 dvd steelbook at least has all 3 dvds firmly placed in the nice box. But the insert pages in the little booklet are made for a normal dvd box, steelbooks are not normal sized so they forced it in and ripped it to bits as its about 1cm too big for the box, muppets.

Anyway the sets nice and still waiting for time to watch it as been on a film marathon the last few days, so should watch it tonight :) still the packagings nice, shame about that insert  ussually I wouldnt care, but it lists all the new stuff and extras in detils, so its a nice little booklet and not a total waste of time.

You can't hide the truth, we all know that you really had a marathon session of shoving your dick up your Dad's arse.

I have to say that I preferred the new cut from the Versus ultimate edition over the region 2 rental I had seen previously. I felt that the previous version's fight sequences lasted too long and started to drag whereas in this film the action felt right and there seemed to be more story or at least the balance just seemed a lot better. Raising my opinion of the film greatly. the sound was also a massive improvement ,suprisingly DTS!

Versus (not ultimate) Blu-Ray from Media Blasters.

I'm not too sure if this will be better or even as good as the French dvd. Sure it's BD, but their dvd looks like VHS, so...

I did some very quick comparison between Media Blaster BD caps that I fround from the net, and my old French dvd. Forgive me the caps being a bit off. The BD is a huge leap over any of the previous US or UK dvds, but that's because they all sucked hard. My French dvd, released 8 years ago, on the other hand holds up quite well against the BD. You figure out which company should take that as a compliment..

BD caps here, but the link seems to be down now. Hence, I've stolen a few caps with all credit going to hundland.org.

I avoided that Blu Ray, as frankly it looks like shit.
