I have the Tartan R0 release.
What's better?

* From an English subtitled point of view: The Remastered Ringu Trilogy DTS box set.
* I suspect the Korean or Japanese remastered box sets are better but these don't have English subtitles.
* The only other English subtitled box set worth considering is the R4 but that's not as good as the Tartan.

If you want just "Ringu" then definitely get the R1. The DTS on the Tartan (which you can't use anyway) isn't much better and the R1 is definitely slightly better picture quality. I noticed this when comparing them and this review agrees:

Plus the Tartan Remastered version is only available as part of the box set.

I've owned the original Ringu trilogy DVDs, the Ringu R1 DVD and now the box set. The best English subtitled Ringu DVD is the R1 but if you want them all like me get the Tartan box set.
Bottom line: The R1 is the way to go OR the Tartan box set.

I take it you mean the original? As all are R0 I think.Markgway wrote:I have the Tartan R0 release.

Thanx for the advice. I only want the first film. DTS is of no interest right now and I need good subs.bradavon wrote:If you want just "Ringu" then definitely get the R1. The DTS on the Tartan (which you can't use anyway) isn't much better and the R1 is definitely slightly better picture quality.
