If anyone wants to post matching caps from any other Region I will edit them into this initial post. All I need is the URLs. The last cap is of a shot apparently censored from the UK version so it may not be found on the R2.

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".
So the R1 version is what I would call heavily censored (bathroom fight & stairwell fight both censored, torture scene not censored) and the R2 is very likely to be the same cut version we got at the cinema (torture scene cut), so it looks like the R3 is the only uncut version out there...
It sucks because its looking more than likely that we are not going to get an uncut BD of Casino Royale. I'm guessing the RA & RB versions will be the exact same cut versions as the R1 and R2 DVDs, and I doubt another BD release of Casino Royale will be coming for a while.

Also, I saw the film 4 times in theaters and I didn't notice any cuts at all on the R1. It is exactly as I remember it being in theaters back in November. In regards to the stairwell fight; there never was a shot of the henchman hitting the floor after he falls off the stairs and there WAS a shot of the other man slamming into glass. It appears that in the UK the torture scene was trimmed slightly and in the US, a few seconds was cut from both the opening fight and the stairwell fight. This cut does not differ one bit from the theatrical US release.

Many people have said the film was pre cut in america cinemas, so thats why you didnt notice in any of the screenings you saw in the cinema, as you never saw the footage to start with
The Region 3 caps look far sharper, the region 1 is a bit bluured and not much detail. But thats going by compressed caps, which never helps.
I meant compression in general plagues all images on the net , thats why I like to see the dvd for myself:)
But you can see there is a difference in detail in the pictures, dont think thats all down to compression, the Region 3 looks a lot clearer and seems to be far more detailed in every way. Many times I have seen this on Region 1 dvds, soft pictures for some reason seem to pop up oince in a while on certain films.
I was interested in seeing which was better but it's impossible to judge from this comparison. The R1 screencaps are decent but the R3 ones are compressed to hell. Look at the second one, at the top of the head you can even see some weird horizontal rainbow-like artifact I assume is from the .jpg compression.
Why not insist on .png when you've got all these free image hosts like imageshack?
The region 3 caps are about 4-5 times the size of the Region 1's some of the region 1's are over 100kb, while some of the Region 3's are as low as 15kb
I've edited Barbarian's caps into the first post for easier comparison.
My caps maybe lower resolution but that doesn't stop them from looking sharper than the R1, lol!
If I knew exactly which shots were missing from the R1 I could post caps, but I would be guessing. I suppose you would need to have both versions to notice?
Sharper isn't better you know... if it's all artificial sharpness it will look better on a 32" WS set but look like crapzors on my 106" WS screen... And jpeg resizing/scaling may introduce fake sharpness aswell - so as Romero said, you really need to see it for yourself ... or have someone present uncompressed caps taken on the same computer with the same software (meaning someone with all versions...)
If I were going by these shots I'd say the R3 suffered from more EE than the R1... look at the extra outlines on Bond's jaw in pic 3. And most of these shots doesn't really seem to match up between the discs... sharpness/softness and colour tone can change between frames so try to be accurate...
I read some reviews from people who have the R3 on HTF and DVDTalk that said that the R3 DTS track has a drop-out around 90 minutes or so. Perhaps someone can verify this?
I dont know. I downloaded it. Havent watched it yet. Was planning on buying the Region 2 once it would come out (one of these days) depending on the reviews.
I only checked the downloaded version for quality, and it had chinese subs so I gave my father in law a copy.
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

I disagree. Look at Bond's face in the last cap. It's more detailed in the R3 than the R1 which appears softer. I know there's factors such as compression and software etc. I think both pictures are entirely acceptable and any flaws in the R3 caps are probably down to my methods of capture.
