1). How does Sony's R1 Once A Thief compare to IVL's in the video department?
2). Is Sony's New Fist Of Fury the longest version available? How's the picture quality and such?
A couple of R1 questions.

I had a post type, but the motherfucker of a computer crashed.
2) 'New Fist of Fury':
'Eastern Heroes' DVD has English export trailer and genuine English/Chinese credits (everything else is god awful).
'Geneon' DVD has genuine (possibly progressive) anamorphic 2:35:1 image and may have original trailer (uses the shorter Cantonese reissue version and has no mono, or English subtitles),
'Columbia' DVD has the longer Mandarin version in 2:35:1 (fairly decent - some mild print damage) with English dub (has dubtitles, altered credits and a few minor cuts and maybe an interlaced false anamorphic image).

1) I'm told the Columbia has genuine Cantonese mono, original Chinese credits, is anamorphic and uncut. Sounds like a winner! I'm getting it soon
2) Fortune Star version of New Fist, avaliable from Geneon is missing 40min compared to the Columbia. Unless Dragon Dynasty does something wonderful, the OOP Columbia is the best DVD - even though it's lacking in many areas

Well, techinically, it's not missing anything, it's just the shorter versionFortune Star version of New Fist, avaliable from Geneon is missing 40min compared to the Columbia.

Well I just finished watching the Sony R1 ONCE A THIEF and the quality wasn't as bad as I suspected. For some reason the credits were extremely grainy but thankfully it cleared up afterwards. The picture is kinda dark at times and seems to have removed color filters, if there were any. The sounds mono alright and the English dubbing sounds old (like The Killer and Hard-boiled's dub). Anyone know how the IVL compares to this?
