No extras except a couple of trailers AFAIK.
Is the well running dry? Shitty Wong Jing IA clones are all that they can come up with?

I haven't seen it. I've heard K-Dramas like Emperor of the Sea (?) are good.

Don't know.
What's the difference ?

Update:

YES ! YES ! YES !

The Sammo Hung boxset is finally coming ! :D

Millionaire's Express, Eastern Condors and Stunt Woman (Ah Kam) will be released on March 15th by HK Vidéo.
But do you know the best part of it ?
They're using High Definition masters (probably from Fortune Star).

Extras: Two interviews. One with Yuen Biao, one with Yuen Wah.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

hey,

and considering that HKV did well with the FS materials for Sex And Zen 1 (not bad quality mono as per their HK releases, something they do on purpose WHEN including them), this shouldn't be bad.

Individual release available, too. Even better :)

Now, could someone please confirm HKL Express has the original cantonese mono, not a downmix? I don't have time to sub everything, so I'd rather get it on HKL.

I'll check the mono track, but I'm not too good with sound.
Can't guarantee that I can tell the difference between original mono and 5.1 downmix (having never heard the original).

Asia-diffusion is now (?) (as an opposite to "before") talking about Shanghai Express, not Millionaire's Express. Is that a different movie?

Same movie.

I don't know what the actual original title is, but in France it's always been known as Shanghai Express.
I think that the original cantonese title means something like: "Rich Train", so Millionaire's Express might be more accurate.

Update:

Wild Side will release a Kung-Fu Comedy boxset on April 29th with Lau Kar-Leung's Monkey Kung-Fu, My Young Auntie and Dirty Ho in it.

And on April 24th they'll release Kung-Fu Instructor (1979) and 3 Shaw Brothers short films: The Iron Bow by Yueh Feng, The Tigress by Cheng Kang and White Water Strand by Chang Cheh.

I don't know any of those, but I'm glad they're receiving the Wild Side treatment. :)

News:

Yimou's Curse of the Golden Flower will be released in french theaters on March 14th.
It's been renamed to "La Cité Interdite" (The Forbidden City), which suits the film quite well IMO.

Look at that poster:

ZOMFG !

HK Vidéo have gone mad !

Remember I told you they'd release a Sammo Hung boxset in March (Ah Kam, Shanghai Express, Eastern Condors) along with Princess Chang Ping and Phantom Lover ?

Well hang on to your seats !

In April they'll release Project A 1 and 2, Dragon Lord, Young Master and a Sonny Chiba boxset with Shogun Samurai, Shogun Ninja and Shogun Shadow.

Asia diffusion says "SON 2.0"

might not be exactly final specs

Interested in Dragon Lord if they get the audio right.

hey,

2.0 would not be good for Phantom Lover. It was the first HK movie mixed in DTS for one. This is one area I believe HK Video has been worse in, providing 5.1 when applicable.

Well they screwed up once with Stormriders (they couldn't obtain the 5.1 track).
Fingers crossed for Phantom Lover.

hey,

and ocassionally not providing alternate Mandarin tracks for the likes of Terracotta Warrior and Once pon A Time In China And America. So they're not flawless, just a lot better on many accounts compared to others. ;)

The good: HK Video is releasing Gosha box set Vol. 3 (Kagero, Sword of the Beast, Hunter in the Dark, Oil Hell Murder)
http://www.forum-hkmania.com/index.php?showtopic=10749

The bad: Oil Hell Murder, which is the only rare film, is also the only one that will not be released separately. Fucking idiots. Unless they can finally quit boosing brightness and contrast with their b&w films Criterion's Sword of the Beast is sure to be far superior. Kagero and Hunter in the dark I don't know. Both are colour films and so far HK Video colour Gosha's have been fifty-fifty; Bandit vs. Samurai Squad and Jittemai were great, Violent Streets and Tange Sazen were poor. Kagero and Hunter are both available on remastered R2J.

The ugly: seem like I'll be getting this release for Oil Hell Murder only. With the other three I'll most likely have to double dip, although I'm hopeful they'll get at least one of their colour films right

I'm also thinking about getting rid of HK Video's Street Fighter box set. Toei put out the first film a few months ago, and Optimum has more natural image for parts two and three judging by screencaps (HK Video is again contrast boosted and too bright). I do hate Optimum, though.

Metropolitan or HK Vidéo ?
The Metropolitan is an out-of-print DVD that was cut and dubbed.

The HK Vidéo (with its complete cantonese soundtrack) can be found in the "Wong Fei-Hung boxset", along with Magnificent Butcher and Dreadnaught.
