Got some yesasia credit, what film should I get?
I'm about to get a total of about $12.50 in yesasia credit and was gonna buy a film, but don't know what one to get. I don't mind chipping in a few dollars on top of that price.
Ones I'm thinking of are
Election
Curse of hte Golden Flower (just to see if it is as bad as I've read)
Battle of Wits
The Host (HK version)
Any others worth thinking about?
What are Dog Bite Dog and Confession of Pain like?

The best film in that list is (by far) The Host.
Battle of Wits is a chinese Musa. Good battle scenes, good acting from Andy Lau, Fan Bing-Bing and Ahn Sung-Ki.
Curse of the Golden Flower is a "plastic film", just like House of Flying Daggers (pretty but soulless), only much better.

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

"Election" and "The Host" are great films. "Election 2" is even better than the first part imo.
I have "Dog Bite Dog", but never got round watching it. It's supposed to be very good and to be honest I am pretty sure that even Edison Chen won't piss me off in this film.
"Confessions of Pain" is supposed to be really bad, but I'm gonna get it anyway.

Ok, so now I've narrowed it down to Election, The Host or Battle of Wits.
Leaning towards Election cause if part 2 is meant to be better then it sounds worth seeing, but I don't want to watch it without having seen part 1.
Added a poll to get a general consensus. Leaving it open for 6 days as it might be that long before all the credit with yesasia is cleared.

hey,
I felt that was very true and as you might've guessed there is a greater focus on Louis Koo's character in the sequel. They compliment each other, which is why I let them share a spot on my top 10 of last year.I feel that ELECTION might be even better once I've seen the second part. It felt incomplete to me.

At any rate, Dog Bite Dog is a vicious statement, one that will be sneered at automatically like any opinion divided subject but no doubt this can be called compelling, thematically sound and a pure injection of distinction Hong Kong cinema is in need of. Well it should be called all those things.
