It a sad fact that Abhishek is where he is because of his dad, he dad is such a big star and he is riding on it. However saying that, the only movie which I did like him acting in it is KANK aka Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.BiscLimpkit wrote:I've never been a big fan of Abhishek but quite like Aamir after watching DCH.

Have to agree on Abhishek's performance in Dhoom, although the whole movie was a stinker for me. He was very likeable in several other films though, particularly Kuch Naa Kaho and Bunty Aur Babli.
I wouldn't agree that he's only where he's at because if the Big B. His career floundered for years until he got a break. I think he's pretty deserving of his success.

Hey Stephen, Nice to have you over here!!!!. Bunty Aur Babli is on my list to watch movie, especially since I love that track - Kajra Re. (I has a bit of an old skool feel to it), also Ash is a wicked dancer. She special guest in this movie I believe.
BTW here is the song : Bunty Aur Babli - Kajra Re

Good to hear. You're more than welcome.Stephen wrote:Don't worry, my allegiance to those folks doesn't translate into any ill will to you folks.
I'm not going to hold a grudge against a whole community based on one person. Shingster manages to post here and 'contribute' to DVD Times too.
That's old news anyway. Pity I've been banned from reading your blog though, and any other DVD Forums member who also has one.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai 5/5
Number of songs (musical numbers): 4
No intermission.
Now this is Bollywood at its utmost finest. For once, the comedy is very much universal and not restricted to local style humour. I laughed out loud on several occasions.
The title translates as Carry on Munna Brother, where the word "Brother" is quite often used in Hindi to describe close friends. Although this is the second in a series of films, I've been informed that it's not a sequel but a separate story altogether. Munna Bhai and Circuit are two scammers - aggresive thugs who obtain property using sleazy and dishonest tactics. Although in reality, they both have good hearts. They try to mend their ways after Munna meets a gorgeous radio DJ, Jhanvi, and tries to impress her with his knowledge on Gandhi. However, his newfound obsession causes Gandhi's "spirit" to appear and guide him through this awkward time.
Lage Raho is a light-hearted social commentary on the corruption and attitude amongst Indian people. It preaches Gandhi's teachings in a humorous way in an effort to convince us to modify our behaviour. The cynical will admit that there is little to no impact, but who cares? It's a fun, vivid, colourful film that makes one hope for a better tomorrow. At 2hrs 25mins, it may seem a little on the long side but the pacing is tight and there is always something interesting happening onscreen.
I'll need to hunt down the first Munna Bhai film now.

Dhoom 2 4/5
No. of songs: 5
Dhoom machale!
Slasher was right - this is a huge improvement on the first. Great action, stunts and visuals. Nice songs as well. It's a huge no-brainer film though - don't expect things to make sense.
Hrithik Roshan was really good in this - very likeable villian. Once again, Bachchan's character's a tool.
The film tries to be very PC and it would've been nice to end the film five minutes earlier (lovely dark ending). Still overall, Dhoom 2 is very fulfilling.
I can't understand all the harsh and negative reviews on imdb. Seems like it's a real love-hate film.
The DVD is very funky. I like how the packaging opens. lol

Yeah if they made it end 5 minds earlier, that would be a great ending to the movie. That would really work in this type of film
Can't wait for Dhoom 3 with Shah Rukh Khan being the main baddie in this, also rumor are floating that Aamir Khan may make a guest appearance... If they can do that, that would be solid.
Hey Bisc, what the packaging like for Dhoom 2 then?!!

It is by far the most innovative thing I've seen from an Indian DVD label.
The cover's all embroided, glossy, lovely etc. But then you pull this tab, which releases the DVD tray from the top and bottom (at the same time).
Really funky and cool - not seen anything like it. You should get it. Dhoom 3 had better be pretty damn spectacular to top this one.
