Dances With Wolves - DC differences?

Post by Markgway »

Anyone know what the additions to the DC are?
That's the only version I've seen - and though I enjoyed 2/3 of the film I thought it was well overlong with an especially weak first hour.
I'm wondering how the 3hr TC compares?

I reckon you'll like it more as both cuts work very well with the DC (actually I think it's more of an Extended Cut) having more footage but both cuts work equally well.

It's mostly padding out scenes and more character development. As you like 2/3 I'd definitely recommend picking up the Theatrical Cut.

I presume you have the UK R2 Three Disc SE right? If so you have the extras and want the Original UK R2 1 Disc: http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=668

Which has DTS, some extras and just the theatrical cut but it's OOP (no doubt) so maybe hard to track down.

Yeah, but it depends on WHAT is cut?

The first hour was rather boring for me... but the remaining three I enjoyed.

There's not much point in buying the TC if it's missing scenes that I liked and leaves the stuff I didn't care for.

That's why I'm searching for some kind of list. You'd think the IT geeks would have already done this. :D

What difference does is make? You can only choose from 2 cuts and at least I'd imagine in your opinion the shorter cut will have better pacing.

It's not like you'd watch the DC if it had scenes you like but skip chapters now is it. As for me I like both cuts but then I didn't have a problem with the Extended Cut.

Nah, I'll not watch the DC again, but no point buying the TC if it has a whole bunch of other flaws.

Your main point I think was that is was especially long, the TC even with footage you like missing would fix that :|

Yeah, the TC might not be too long, but if it drops good scenes it'll be flawed in another way. Why is this difficult to understand?

Hell the long cuts wonderful I think, the longer the better I say :) plenty of great little tit bits added back in. There are a few full comparions out there, no idea where no sadly as the dvds came out so long ago now.

Who said it was? I was just pointing out with a brisker pace you may like it and may not mind the cuts.

Plus if sourced the UK R2 is bound to be cheap.
