Hey,

Was browsing around CD WOW rentals (as you do) and came across these titles which I added to my queue (even though theyre at CD WOW rental they don't have a UK release), are these worth checking out?

Shanghai Triad
Temptress Moon (remember seeing this some years ago, Artificial Eye VHS I think)
The Story of Qiu Ju
Red Sorghum

I know Raise The Red Lantern has an HK remaster

Can't go wrong with most of Yimou's films. They're well made, pretty and very watchable but that's about it, they are very sterile. Kaige Chen is very similar but the quality of his films is much lower.

The only Kaige film I think I've seen is The Emperor and the Assassin.

Chen Kaige's made some excellent films: Yellow Earth, Life on a String and Farewell My Concubine are thoroughly recommended Grim (Seeing as you've seen the brilliant Emperor & Assassin).

"Together" is a nice Kaige film.

Grim, so neither director holds a high enough regard with you to deserve their own individual threads?
