Brett should get his mug on the front cover. A nice picture of his face. Brett Ratner presents... POLICE STORY 2!

Worked for Tarentino... when he gave us Chunking Express(!)

About this 5 cut of IA - is it like all 3 films edited into one or something?

What's more, Jackie has been air-brushed so much that he looks like a cartoon character.
Spread across 2 discs
Anamorphic 2.35:1 WS
Cantonese DD5.1 or DTS
Mandarin DD5.1 Dub
English or Chinese subtitles
No extras

If you've seen any of the HK IA DVDs you know what to expect AV wise. It's a decent transfer.
Cheers. I'll pass though - $40 nzd is way too expensive and it'll probably be as sloppily edited as the Godfather trilogy sequential cut.

Well done! You've saved us again Cpt. Obvious! It's also in chronological order.

It must've gone up I paid about £8.

Godfather trilogy chronological cut???

Nice find.

150 minute, three DD5.1 + one DTS track per DVD-9 is risky though. Still that's only 1 more than the HK DVD.

Yes, a big long cut assembled from all three films in chronological order - just like this "IA trilogy 5 hour cut".

It sucks, don't bother tracking it down. Godfather 2's structure which jumps back & forth between Michael's POV and Vito's past was superb. It's totally wrecked here.

Brad - as for Drunken Master 2, it won't be released by DD I'm afraid as Disney kept this one:

Never mind. I'm not interested in that one anyway thanks. Can you ask Linn:

* What they kept?
* If FOL and Tai Chi Master are still on the cards?

It's a new school wirefu/wuxia flick from the early 90's, Brad likes those.

DM2 has a lot Jackie humour (i.e. him getting drunk and bumbling around), Brad hates that.

Why wouldn't I? It's not old school or silly Jackie nonsense. It's mostly as Eva says plus I can watch Jet Li in pretty much anything.

As for DM2 I just can't get on with Jackie's Hong Kong style (most of the time), to much time spent on the stunts (which rarely particularly impress me anyway) and to little on the script.

Of course the same applies to an average Jet Li flick but they're serious in tone and Jet is so charismatic.

Shock horror I've not sat down to TCM yet :D but seriously reckon I'll love it. It's got Michelle Yeoh too so is unlikely to fail.

I tried to watch my HK DVD twice and after my ears and eyes being raped by the atrocity that is the Universe Laser DVD I gave up.

Well, you'll be pissed to find out that TCM is a rather funny and less serious Jet Li-film.

It seems among the films Disney kept were "Iron Monkey" and "Drunken Master II" - I've asked Lin if Disney still have Tai Chi Master and FOL.

Thanks. I doubt DD would improve Iron Monkey anyway (except for Mono).

It'd be great if DD re-released IRON MONKEY. Just imagine the Miramax print with all of HKL's goodies!

For me, Tai Chi Master starts out great, and you;ll think it will be one of the best and most entertaining martial arts flicks ever, but later on the movie quickly drops in quality, with bad jokes and wire-fu.
Still a good and entertaining movie, but just not a classic. Could have been much better.

Speaking of the Tai Chi Master, I was watching the Miramax DVD and you could totally see all the wires LOL!

I'm sure I've read the HKL is the best IM has ever looked. I also heard they messed up the subs (by adding a new plot) and cut the film too.

As far as I remember, Miramax IM had much better picture than the HKL.

I also believe I heard Miramax had the best video. Not that I'd ever buy it though, as it's cut. I'm more then happy with my 2 disk HKL.
