It's just petty modding, no more and no less. And it's not just Brad who has a problem with the very strict modding that goes on there, or so I've heard. When you're a mod, you should still try to be objective when your using some kind of black card thingy, and dealing out 'warnings', no matter who comes with a certain comment or question.

You say he is perhaps stricter and less lenient cause it's Brad, who can be a pain sometimes, but it seems to me that it's just a bullshit reason to give him a 'warning'. A forum is a 'community' and when someone asks a simple and fair question, why should that peron be 'warned' or whatever? Affraid that the sponsor MIGHT read the forums (so fucking what?) is not a good reason to disallow your members any voice. What's next? Someone saying it's a shitty release (when it is), and getting banned for it, cause the sponsor might not like it?
Why not just start up an advertising website then, instead of a community where people can DISCUSS the pros and cons of certain movies and DVDs!?

Ah well... fuck them. I just click on my ad-banner and read there reviews, and dont order through their links anyway. I just go for the cheapest option. Always. Just as cheap as their modding-rules.

Yeah, but WHY is it the rule? Does it honestly hurt anyone if Brad gives advice to a member/members where to save money? :) Just because its for a site that DVD Times doesn't sponsor? I know rules are rules Shingster but that is still petty IMO.

No offence meant :)

Because if the sponsers see it, they may withdraw their support (I.E. no review discs). Brad may have made an innocent query, but going by what shingster said, if he has a history of advising people to go elsewhere, Colin will have interpreted his comment differently.

DVD Times reviews are much better than those of DVD Reviewer.

It seems that DVD Times is a different type of site than Bullets. There you have lots of rules and regulations (and very strict mods). Here it's a kind of free for all (which I like). If you join Times you have to respect the rules (which is why I've never joined - I know I'd be black marked within the hour). No point joining THEN complaining about it. Best thing to do is simply not post.

As they would say:

If you don't like it, then don't visit/use the site/forum.

Shingster wrote:You're talking out your arse Lourdes as usual, if you feel so strongly that Colin is profiting off of DVDtimes and thDVDforums then send him an e-mail and I'm sure he'll put you straight. Until you've actually ran sites as popular as those two though, then you really have no clue what you're talking about. There are other costs to consider rather than just the servers, we don't grow the DVDs we review on trees you know.

Oh and sorry, but superior asses like you don't agitate me quite as much as you seem to think. I suppose if you ran a DVDreview site it would be the bestest ever with no downtime, no advertisements, and a steady stream of reviews of each new release across most regions that all point out every single video flaw. :P

In fact, I think this entire thread has an unneccesary amount of cowardly backbiting against Colin, afterall he's not a member of these forums and cannot speak for himself (I won't be informing him of the thread). And for what? Because he dared to give Bradavon a black mark? He hasn't even BANNED him yet! How petty can a forum of people be to get together and slag off (and in Lourdes' case character assassinate) someone just for running his own website the way he sees fit (and what's worse, it's one of the moderators that's conducting the entire thing).

Also, it's not like any of the regular posters on these boards have been frustrated by Brad's general cluelessness before. (I don't say that to be offensive brad, but you have to admit you're pretty fucking clueless sometimes.)

Internet, serious fucking business indeed! :D
I've run sites a lot larger, still do to a minor extent. I'm very familiar with this subject. You are an unpaid reviewer for a site that makes money. Yes, you're the clever and informed one here. I'm talking out of my arse.
This isn't uncommon though, almost community owners highly dislike openness about monies being made and try to avoid the subject as much as possible. I hardly know of any profitable community focussed sites that are both profitable and upfront. But I also don't know of any with such zealous staff.....
Having done a few quick searches just now it seems I even underestimated costs by a fair whack. Only 2 servers and no additional bandwidth. The cost of DVD's for reviews? Don't make me laugh. Every review more than pays for itself.

And yes I'm sure you're not agiated at all. Going on massive tirades and name calling - being hypersensitive about a site that makes you feel important. But doesn't pay you, just profits from you....

Colin's reaction has nothing to do with DVD Pacific. He just got pissy about having something questioned because that's how things work there. It's totally fine for him and the sponsors to have sponsored reviews that trash discs. But don't you dare try to question anything.

Every review more than pays for itself? That is just the funniest thing I have read in a long time. Why do you think Colin boosted the size of the adverts in the first place? DVDtimes is exploiting me eh? In the last 6months I've covered numerous costly r2j DVDs for DVDtimes that have earned 0 clickthrough sales from YesAsia. That's right, 0. In fact, the most popular DVD review from the YesAsia affiliate this year was the Korean WKW double boxset that generated a massive 6 clickthrough purchases.

You clearly don't visit the site that often and clearly don't have an idea of just how large our output is or how much in DVD costs we get each month from our various affiliates (I assure you, it's a lot), so yes you are talking out of your arse. :D
Lourdes wrote:It's totally fine for him and the sponsors to have sponsored reviews that trash discs. But don't you dare try to question anything.
Again, you're spouting total arse gravy here. We have to be totally impartial when it comes to reviewing the content of our affiliated DVDs, otherwise people would suspect that we're deliberately giving good reviews to get discs sold. You should be glad none of the reviewers have sold out, but no any excuse to have another dig at people you know nothing about. I know you're having fun trolling this thread but really, could you at least put some intelligent thought into it next time you wanna take a pop at DVDtimes? :D

Again, you're talking about theDVDforums and not DVDtimes. DVDtimes will black mark you for basically complaining or compromising the Affiliate adverts (ie don't post a link to a cheaper site) and for persistent offensive remarks. You really have to be a troll or a special kind of ignoramus to recieve 3 black marks and a ban. Hopefully Brad will not recieve another one, coz he certainly doesn't post anything offensive.
Again, we are talking about a review site's talkback section, not a proper forum. For the millionth time we are not theDVDforums! :D

I'm confident that you can probably count on the fingers of one hand the amount of regular posters Colin has ever banned from DVDTimes, which when you consider the amount of people who view our site is a pretty damn good statistic!

The review affiliates thing is a very sore point when it comes to Brad and Colin, this goes way back. Colin even considered removing the talkback section not long ago, reading the posts in these threads I'm not sure he made the right decision in keeping it, coz really - who wants to recieve so much personal harping just for having the nerve to establish a talkback system and impose a couple of very simple to understand rules for its posters to follow.

LOL shame, does Romero really have that bad a rep?

I'm clean but I only use tdvdf for trading purposes. If I need specific info for a particular film then I might start a thread or two. Although, I can't be arsed joining in with the banter there.

Edit: I'm also clean on dvdtimes but that's because I never visit the site (and subsequently, don't have an account lol) unless someone recommends a specific review (i.e. Shing's JPN R2s).

I have a black book on theDVDforums, for swearing iirc. Maybe another one for taking a thread off topic (that might have just been a threat of a black mark though, can't remember). I don't pay any notice to them tbh as it's not exactly difficult to belong to an online community and actually follow its rules. I know that's a radical concept to some of the regulars here! :D

Yeah, we don't like rules here.
Last year, we almost hanged Brad because he installed a profanity filter. :D

Hey as far as I know I have no black marks on any site with rules and regs, I dont break them or bend them and try to get along with everyone :) even when people try to start wars etc..

I just do what the mods told me to do in the past when I got a bit angry or went to far )and was banned for a while from DVDFORUMS), ignore it and hey it works, I may want to strike back, but hell I dont as I like some sites a lot, DVDFORUMS and Imort Forums for instance have some great people on them, worth staying on them sites I think and if that means lowering my tone, so be it.

In the end you can try to argue with black marks etc.. but in the end its not your site and theres little you can do, even if you think you are in the right.

and yes I have a rep, a bad one on many forums, not because of how I act on that forum, but mainly becuase of how I have acted and still do on Bullets :D I am allowed to say things on here and get away with it and not be banned, other forums would ban me in a heart beat if I spoke my mind, so I dont. Many poeple know who I am sadly and reps follow you, but I dont mind at all, as hell ITS NOT REAL LIFE, ITS THE NET :D Remember I am not Romerojpg, but some people cannot get past that.

Check out the review in question again if you want to see the usual DVD Times/Forums sucking up from members to mods:

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=63665

@ Shingster: Where exactly do you propose I post my views? I'd LOVE to post them at DVD Forums or even e-mail but that's not allowed. If a Bullets member has a problem he'll either air it over pm or publicly.

That isn't possible at DVD Times/Forums.

I've just remembered we have our own black book on BnB.

https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... c.php?t=60

It only got used once by mistake (Toge) and has since then been abandoned.
Pretty useless stuff.

We may as well delete that thread. It doesn't serve much use.

One thing is true speaking only for myself I should probably post less at DVD Times/Forums. If it weren't for the reviews I doubt I'd ever visit DVD Times.

Ok i'm not even gonna try and quote you anymore brad coz that is just information overload :D

First up I had no idea Colin was a member of this site, so if he is then I was very wrong there, but when was the last time he was an active member of these boards?

But there are so many contradictorry comments in those posts it's shocking that someone could possibly get into such a tizz over recieve a tiny littly black mark in a bleedin talkback thread.

You accuse Colin of running DVDtimes like a business and as the puppet master of theDVDforums when you obviously have absolutely no insider information as to how those two websites are run, do you? I have a least some insight into how DVDtimes is run and I can assure you that it is no where near the cynical machine you seem to think it is. Also, you credit Dave as the man who ensures DVDtimes keeps running while Colin has very little to do with the input of the site yet you seem to fail to comprehend that it is the admins on theDVDforums who run that place and came up with the Terms & Conditions. All Colin probably did was sign off on them, I can't even remember the last time Colin personally warned/banned a member from theDVDforums for breaching the T&Cs.

About this whole "no other site advertises like this" show me one single review site where their DVDs are supplied by a known affiliate and right there in the talkback thread is someone going "you can buy the title here for cheaper instead" I'm pretty sure that would piss any review site off. You'll probably struggle to find one because not many quality DVD review websites actually have a talkback section. I think they might be on to something there.

Also, please don't keep firing questions at me about your black mark when you know full well that Colin did this at his own discretion, I cannot possibly give you answers only he knows. Personally I wouldn't have given you the black mark, but I am not the one running the place.

OK I lied, I do wanna make one quote:
Where exactly do you propose I post my views? I'd LOVE to post them at DVD Forums or even e-mail but that's not allowed. If a Bullets member has a problem he'll either air it over pm or publicly.
Why post them here? No one on these forums was going to be of any help in your campaign to "DESTROY THE INJUSTICE OF A BLACK MARK ENTRY", all you wanted to do was have a good old public cry and whine over something so blummin' insignificant any normal individual would just laugh it off. Could you honestly see someone like romero starting a thread to moan about a black mark entry on another forum? And people think he's the crazy one! :P :D

He's only ever posted twice (but he could of course). Whether he reads the forums + others I don't know.

You're probably right.

Show me a recent review where I've done that? ;) That's an old point.

I've only (as you know) done it once and won't be bothering again. I was only after your opinion as someone who works for DVD Times, of which you've now aired.

I should have said "the reviews more than pat for themselves" which is quite true You're explaining lot more here, now I understand the reasons behind a lot of the unexpected reviews I see and your particualr zeal.

Try reading what I said, I never said there was bias. I said that it was fine for reviewers to trash a disc in a sponsored review but not fine for a user to say something about ad size. And why do you keep going about someone saying you can get discs cheaper elsewhere? How do you get from "why the adverts are a bit big" to "http://cheapdiscs.com cheaper than sponsor.com for this title."
