Since when does the audience have to sympathise with the characters in a film for it to work?

You have to have someone to root for or at least care about otherwise it becomes an cinematic exercize without emotional engagment. At least that's how I feel. To use The Getaway as an example: I really didn't care if McQueen and MacGraw lived or died. That shouldn't have been the case. It's not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but I slightly prefered Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, in this regard. The dialogue was crap, but the main character: a man out of his depth determined to do what he thought was best and then ultimately right, is someone the audience can identify with on some level. The Getaway has no such depth: it's just a pair of assholes bickering and shooting bigger assholes.

To anybody who owns both the previous IVL and the new Joy Sales discs, do you know if the 5.1 remixes are the same? Or have they been tweaked for the new release?

I only remember Hulk Hogan from The A-Team, Rocky 3 and I believe he had a bad cartoonshow as well...

Besides that, I've never been interested in any of that fake-fighting shit by men in tights... I think it's sad, ridiculous and pathetic.

Wrestling seems pretty cool to a 11-14 year old (around the ages at which I watched it).

That's around the time I watched WWF.

I recall names like The Hart Foundation, The Rockers, Jake the Snake, Sgt. Slaughter, British Bulldog, etc... :D

Well, I prefer Wrestling as opposed to MMA simply because it's more entertaining. I get no big kick out of seeing to men grapple on the ground and punching each to a bloody pulp... the high-flying entertainment of Wrestling is more interesting then.

(Oh and Hogan only had a guest spot on the A-Team, while Mr. T was there permanently - both were in Rocky III and in Wrestling, and both had cartoons on telly :D though Hogan is probably the most known Wrestler - ever. And yeah I know it's not "cool" or "in" to like Wrestling - but I'm adult enough to not give a crap what you "kids" think ;))

A couple of questions for anyone who owns the Bullet in the Head 2-disc set from Joy Sales...

1. I know that the branching isn't seemless, but is that a problem when watching the standard 131m version with car joust ending? As I have no intention of playing the film with either the boardroom ending or workprint footage I need to know if the pauses affect all viewing options.

2. Is the mono track in-sync?

Thanx.

A friend of mine has the original IVL release (the double pack with The Killer). Assuming the audio is the same, I think it was in sync, but the music sounded quite harsh in places. Bear in mind, though, it was like 6 or 7 years ago that we watched it and I can't say anything for sure.

Yeah, I know the mono can be a bit harsh, but 5.1 remixes do my head in.

I watched bits of HKL's Full Contact last night and although most of it sounds like compressed mono, whenever any seperation occured it jarred like a finger being slammed in a door. I'm trying to replace all my remixed titles with mono ones. The Sony R1 has original mono and comparable image (apparently).

Joy Sales re-released The Killer with some extras so I don't know if the AV is the same on that as the doublepack release. On the verge of ordering that one so I can hear the music in the correct place and those juicy gunshots. :D

I still have the original Mei Ah release, which has the original soundtrack. I think HKL, Sony and the new Mei Ah all have the new soundtrack...

Yeah, I actually prefer the 'alternate' soundtrack, which has the original songs and a lot less of Teddy Robin's guitar (which started to grate after a bit).

First saw this on the MIHK tape. I guess that was the original soundtrack?
