hmm did i atually say that they absoultley shouldnt be punished? they should learn the error of their ways, and you know, we have actually talked about reporting my sisters but to not is the lesser of two evils, simply because, the rest of the family would never get to see the children. and honestly i would much rather be sure my nieces and nephews are safe, than have them posted to some family half way across the country.
and i wasnt just reffering to this, neither was i just referign to romero if had of been i would have said "i would much rather hang out with a drug dealer than hand out with romero" but also from what i read here he has aalot of predjudices against alot of things, so that was also based on my point.
i also didnt say the murders shouldnt be punished but rther that they shouldnt be murdered also. because thats just doing what has just been thought of as wrong. the same with rapists, by all means punish them. my actual point was if you bear a grudge against someone then in essence who are you bearing a grudge against? your hating them, but do they feel your hate? i doubt it...are they getting bitter and angry becuase they killed or raped someone you care about? i doubt it...
and for your information i dont not just accept and make excuses for things, i just find that to be passive about things gets a better result than to go all guns blazing and just being an agressive idiot, who thinks that corpral punsihment is the answer to everything...

'Proven' is a little too concrete, don't you think Markgay, er, Gway?
I'm sure there are plenty of people that just toke away on weed and don't move onto harder drugs; it's not an automatic progression for everyone. As for mental illness, alcohol can be a cause of that as well.
Which brings us to the (previously-talked-about-I'm-sure) topic of what should be legalised and what shouldn't be. Why is alcohol legal and why is tobacco legal, when these have been proven (over a much larger range of available statistics) to cause plenty of deaths on their own?
Sorry, I've dragged the topic away further from its initial point than it already has been.
Is there anymore information that's become available Bisc?

Hey, I'm only conservative on certain issues, like crime and drugs, on others, like sexuality, I'm quite open-minded. I don't think it's hopeless to want a society where illegal drugs and murder cease to exist... do you?the68monkey wrote:Oh, and as for Mark? Hopeless conservative. Watch him have a cow if you even dare to call him Markgay instead of Markgway.

I understand that you would think it's not worth reporting a close relative for selling soft drugs... I wouldn't want to either because I love them. But that's not the same as acceopting what they do and it sounded a bit (perhaps, erroneously?) like you did. As for the children I think growing up in a house where their parents sell and presumably use (as most low level drug peddlers do) any kind of forbidden substance is in itself unhealthy.Shen wrote:they should learn the error of their ways, and you know, we have actually talked about reporting my sisters but to not is the lesser of two evils, simply because, the rest of the family would never get to see the children.
You can't not hate a person if they slaughter someone you love... I hope you never have to learn that the hard way. What should the punishment be? 12 years inside a cosy cell with three squares, pool table and SKY TV? This is not only ineffective but is costs thousands in taxpayers' money. For the crime of murder if proven WITHOUT doubt execution should be employed. A single bullet to the back of the head. At least then the families would have some assemblence of closure.i also didnt say the murders shouldnt be punished but rther that they shouldnt be murdered also. because thats just doing what has just been thought of as wrong. the same with rapists, by all means punish them. my actual point was if you bear a grudge against someone then in essence who are you bearing a grudge against? your hating them, but do they feel your hate? i doubt it...are they getting bitter and angry becuase they killed or raped someone you care about? i doubt it...
Corporal punishment is an answer, not a solution. If I knew the solution we'd all be better off. It's passivity which allows wrongs to go by unchallenged.and for your information i dont not just accept and make excuses for things, i just find that to be passive about things gets a better result than to go all guns blazing and just being an agressive idiot, who thinks that corpral punsihment is the answer to everything...

Correct on both counts. But doesn't it worry you that it CAN happen? That there's a definite increased chance of mental illness and strong drug use. I don't have figures... but I believe the number of hard rgu users who STARTED on soft drugs is staggeringly high. Nobody just becomes a heroin addict out of the blue. It's a progressive state. And to use the term "toke away on weed" makes it sound harmless and fun.Kurgan wrote:'Proven' is a little too concrete, don't you think Markgay, er, Gway?I'm sure there are plenty of people that just toke away on weed and don't move onto harder drugs; it's not an automatic progression for everyone. Because in moderation alcohol doesn't cause illness; the problem is the excess, the binge-drinking culture. But I suppose that's another topic? I agree about cigarettes and their harm. Difference is that cigarettes don't lead to harder drugs, don't affect the brain in the same way as cannibas, and passive smoking aside, don't harm others by causing criminal actions (when was the last time someone robbed a liquer store to feed their Bensons & Hedges habit??)Which brings us to the (previously-talked-about-I'm-sure) topic of what should be legalised and what shouldn't be. Well, it's true I'm partial to Yuen Biao, and Sting, and Scandinavians, and men with washboard abs, and men who say "whilst" and have long, blonde hair, and guys with olive complexions, and, um . . .Oh hell! Anyway, a drugdealer that gets blown away, doesnt really get my pitty...
And I'm sorry, I dont have a big ass motivation behind those emotions either. I just dont care much about that kind of people.
Sure I'd feel different if I'd know the fella, but I have always chosen NOT to know those kind of people, so ... I don't.
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Yeah but with about dealers you wouldnt have consumers. They're (dealers) the root of the problem, no?thelostdragon wrote:I think too much? I possibly do, but I wish a lot of more people would at least think a little bit.
And since when do drug dealers kill people? It's the drugs that can cause death. Drug dealers usually don't force people to buy drugs. It's the consumers who walk out of their door and ring the dealers up.

Anyway, I'd urge the mods to close this as do we really need two off topic threads? Hmm no don't think so.

Just an appology to everyone for my snapping. I've changed the thread back to the original title. I'm wrong for wanting to tell people to post what I want them to. Terribly sorry. I guess I got wound up too easily by some of the comments. I promise I'll be good.
Just heard on the radio that some people were charged (I think). Will try and get a proper listen/read later. Yeah the area where I live is a lovely rural setting. Pity that such a horrible crime occured, although I don't think anyone local had any involvment with it.

Don't apologize, Bisc! Go ninja on their butts!
Or at least tell them to take it out of your thread and move it to debate.

Just discovered this resurrected thread and have to say it is comedy gold! Romero's comments reach new levels of naive insanity, even for him.
I'm surprised that you're so shocked by a crime like this happening in yor area Bisc, I guess it really must be a nice place to live in! I suppose in comparison I live in a pretty rough area, members of my immediate family have been victims of violent crime, there's a huge drug problem all through our town and even people I knew well from highschool have died from overdoses, etc.
As for murders, there's been 3 within 5min walk from my front door in my lifetime. first one was a stabbing right at the end of our street, 2nd time was when a man bludgeoned his wife and children to death with a hammerthen killed himself, and just last month someone discovered a dead body in the pond down the road. Apparently it was the body of an old woman and had been in the water for a while so the carcass was in quite the state. Technically I shouldn;t class it as a murder because it's unsure whether she died of natural causes or not. There's certainly enough loons in the area who would've disposed of a dead relative in such a manner.
These days nothing surprises me when I read the local newspaper, just about every crime imaginable has occured round here and living in a place like this it's inevitable that you get desensitised to violent crime.

Yup life for a life, unless there are certain things that happened (like someone killed all your family etc.. or it was an accident etc..) but really Life is a pathetic way of describing the punishment, call it a quater life, or less.
and I am not naive at all, if people were acctually punished properly then the scum would not rule the coutry, people who piss about letting them off and people who think certain crimes are not crimes really piss me off no end, if they dont piss you off then you are part of the problem.
