WHAT!

2 out of 5

You didn't find Audrey Hepburn just magical??? You can't make such a statement like that without backing it up?

MY god sure it's not worth 10 out of 10 and the Japanese character was a bad idea but 2 out of 5 :|

It gets a "2" because I quite like that Moon River song.

Other than that, it was pretty dreadful. My first and last Hepburn movie.

Jeez you're basing an entire actors career on 1 film? Even I've given Jackie Chan more of a chance than that. DM really, really dull, DM2 dull, PS dull, PS2 dull but I've not given up on him yet.

Seriously you've not answered why you thought it was so dreadful? In fact you said pretty dreadful so it must have some redeeming factors?

Surely you found Audrey's performance magical?

Oh and I happen to like Star Trek 3 decent too :D

I don't think anyone who thinks that Police Story and Drunken Master 2 are "dull" should be questioning someone else's opinions.

hey,

Hostel 4/5

Now this is more like it, Eli Roth. Sort of intentionally stupid and American for a reel or two, the European setting then suitably gives way to an unashamed experience in blood and guts. Just like old times. Even clever to a degree and I had a great deal of fun.

I like that the film adheres to the Evil Dead thing of featuring the least likely and likeable "hero". Although Ash was merely dorky.

Ok I may have been a bit premature to state that I won't see another Hepburn movie but I most certainly did not find Audrey's performance magical. On the contrary, I found her to be the decidedly annoying and completely unlikeable - by far the worst part of the film. The story was mundane, the humour dated and I'm not even going to start on that Japanese guy (ok so it's the 1960's but still).

It was just not a film for me. Left me feeling bored and totally uninterested.

Good to see another Roth fan. Someone who "gets" his films. You'll be glad to know that Hostel II is on its way!!

hey,

wasn't too big on Cabin Fever but I understood where he was coming from. It came together so much better in Hostel while Cabin Fever left me pretty quickly.

There is nothing to "Get" about his films, they are totally midless horror films, nothing more. He hasnt made a great film yet. Hostel is good, but far far from the film it should have been, it held back on all the gore I felt, left 90% to the imagination, which gets on my tits for a so called most violent film of the year.

Still I liked it :) just hope they dont hold back next time and he acctually lives up to his talk.

I kinda liked this movie, quite gruesome, the only thing that put me off, was the blasted advert on posters saying this is the most gruesome movie ever!!, ahhhh not even close, however pretty good film. Also ending seem tooo rushed and bit unlikely with everything being tied up. Agreed on the hero part, i didn't think he would be the hero.. I didn't rate Cabin Fever much, it was okay, good actors/actress, but story seem rushed alot and not enough suspense or gore!!!.
Hostel 2 teaser trailer is out, but I would reserve judgement until the movie comes out

Yeah the posters for HOSTEL even showed images that looked really nasty, and they were not even in the film! the Drill down the throat looked nasty, yet wasnt even in the film in fact all the drill gore was pretty poor as it dodnt show anything :(

Still the next film at least has 3 sexy ladies as the stars, thats always a plus thats for sure.

Hostel, Wolf Creek, Hills Have Eyes... all films of the recent horror wave do not interest me even a scratch. It's mostly the same story, only different setting. A group of young, good-looking people get captured by a buch of bad guys/hillbillies/murderers (you name it) and are tortured and killed. In the end everybody dies or one person survives.

Why would I want to watch the same film over and over again? Due to different, perverted torture methods that are being displayed?

I rather watch kung-fu-films with a very similar story theme of revenge. There the difference lie mostly in the fight choreography, physical skill that is being displayed. But I am not a sadistic voyeur who gets joy out of watching people getting tortured and killed in the most gruesome ways.

Resurrection of Golden Wolf - 4,5/5
One of the best crime films of the 70’s. I was really impressed by how well crafted the main character was. The fluid combination of 70’s disco tunes and extreme nihilism reminded me a bit of William Friedkin’s ’To Live and Die in L.A’. This is just much darker. A true masterpiece.

Dragon Princess - 4/5
Finally a remastered edition. I remember being not so impressed by the film when I first saw it on dubbed full screen dvd, however now I can say there was nothing wrong with the film itself, it was just the heavy cropping that turned the tightly framed action scenes into a mess. Seeing Dragon Princess in its original form I’d say it’s every bit as good as Sister Street Fighter.

A Fiery Family 1/5

Yet another failed Wilson Tong attempt to make Norman Tsui and Gordon Lau action stars of the new era of Hong Kong action cinema.

You know, I used to say that I hate horror films. But these days I know better, because I actually am not averse to a good, decent horror film. Many people don't call them horror films, but to me they are. And they are the few that found their entry into my DVD collection. I talk about awesome films such as "The Shining", "A Tale of Two Sisters" or "Audition". I never knew what kind of film "Audition" was supposed to be until I watched it, which is probably why I was so shocked when that nice drama turned into a real horror trip.

The other horror film that I have in my collection is...

Mr. Vampire :D

LOL, I just browsed my DVD profiler and filtered all the horror films I have on DVD. Look at that list the program filtered. Even I wouldn't call some of them horror films.

The films in bold are the ones I have actually seen and which I would call good horror films. The underlined ones are the ones I'd call good films, but no horror films. The cursive ones are the films that fit in none of the two categories.

Versus
The Twins Effect (WTF?)
My Left Eye Sees Ghosts (WTF?)
The Crow
Evil Dead 2
Nang Nak
Dumplings
Kichiku Dai Enkai
Three... Extremes
Ju-On (this film sucks)
Tales of the Unusual (huh? I didn't watch it, yet, but I never knew it was supposed to be a horror-film)
Ebola Syndrome (LOOOOL!)
Bloody Friday (Simon Yam, he he he)
Angel Guts series
Pentagram (don't know, but I enjoyed this one)
Meet the Feebles
Bad Taste
The Untold Story
Predator
Happy Tree Friends (he he he)
Army of Darkness
Blade
Blade 2

Blade 3
Fallen
Em Embalming
Green Snake
Alien³
Devilman
Inner Senses
Cape Fear
H
Ring (the four Japanese films)
Ring (US)
Ring 2 (US)

Paradise Villa
Shutter
Godzilla (original)
Godzilla: Final Wars

Shiver
R-Point
The Happiness of the Katakuris
The Ninth Gate
From Dusk Till Dawn
Nochnoi Dozor
Black Night
Saw 2
The Devil's Rejetcs
The Neighbor No. Thirteen
Re-Cycle

I'm probably going to get lots of silly "you've spelt it wrong" replies now but anyway.

You mean Italic LD, cursive means something else: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=cursive

Thanks for the lengthier reply. I was interested to hear why you didn't like it tbh, as you're the only person I know who doesn't (or at least doesn't find Audrey Hepburn in BAT magical).

Audrey Hepburn couldnt act her way out of a wet paper bag, pathetic "actress".
