It's available in France.
Just Heroes is part of an HK Vidéo John Woo boxset (with Once a Thief, I think).

I don't know anything about any english-subtitled releases, sorry.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I thought it was pretty good, obviously not up there with Woo's best though.

Best release for English-speakers is the UK VHS from MIA.

Obviously OOP, but try searching.

It's letterboxed, Cantonese w/ remastered subs, and unlike the HK version, uncut.

It's not your typical John Woo/Chow Yun-fat actioner. That's because Chow Yun-fat isn't in it, he he he! Seriously, though, this film is very underrated in my opinion. It has a decent storyline.

hey,

benefit movie for Chang Cheh, hence so many old school faces so no place for Chow yun-fat? ;) Room for Stephen Chow though in a dramatic performance.

The action is cool but even that and the whole affair goes a little on autopilot but Woo did co-direct it so, as lovehkfilm said, "is this Wu Ma's fault?" :)

I tend to return to the movie now and again but I've held on to my MIA vhs. No use for an upgrade.

It's a pretty decent bloodshedder. Just think of it as a Wu Ma film and you'll be pleasently surprised. Expect The Killer and, er, you won't.

Don't have a clue about who this Wu Ma is...

Don't have a VCR anymore. Guess I'll never see this. Ah no big loss - doubt I'd enjoy this as much as his big HK titles.

hey,

I'm sure you saw him as the right hand man of Jackie Chan in Miracles and perhaps this will spark some memories (shot from American Grandson)

Not seen Miracles (or most HK JC flicks, bar Police Story & Thunderbolt) I'm afraid.

VCR? What is one of those?

When DVD Recorders (which in themselves are pants against a Hard Disk based recorder) as so cheap I can't believe anyone still puts up with a shitty VCR.

They're easily under £50 for a basic one in the UK. You don't need to get rid of your decent DVDP when you get one.

So true. I still have my VCR as well as I have many films (especially HK films) that were not released on DVD, yet.

As for Wu Man, he was the awesome rice seller in "Mr. Vampire".

Hey,

the film is as already said a benefit movie for Chan Che. As a result all his old boys have roles. Ti Lung, David Chiang, Danny Lee, Wu Ma, Stephen Chow etc.

It has some great action and a great moment of self reveration from John Woo.

If you have a laser disc player check ebay for the UK LD. It turns up regularly and the quality is very good. LB, uncut, subbed etc. Alternatively buy a VCR and look on ebay for the UK vid!!

Cheers,
monzo

Chow never worked with Chang Cheh.

And you forgot Chen Kuan Tai.
