DVDTimes review of film and R2j DVD.

Audio Tracks:
R2j = Japanese DD2.0, DD5.1, DTS. + 2 Audio Commentaries.
R3thai = Japanese DD2.0, DD5.1, DTS. Thai DD5.1 - No Audio Commentaries

TOP = R2j
BOTTOM = R3thai

I think it's obvious from the screengrabs and bitrate charts that the r3thai is essentially a r2j port with a Thai DD5.1 track replacing the 2 Audio Commentaries, and Thai subs replacing the Japanese subs.

The R2j release of Always retails at YesAsia at $36.75 for the 1-Disc Standard Release, and $67.99 for the 3-Disc Deluxe Edition (3rd disc is a Cd-rom).

The R3Thai 2-Disc DVD retails at around $5.99 at most Thai E-tailers. I assume the 2nd disc in the Thai set is identical to the 2nd disc in the R2j Deluxe Edition, seeing as the Thai disc02 is completely in Japanese and doesn't feature any subtitles at all - not even Thai.

I couldn't spot a single difference. You know what this means right?

The Japanese looks a little better to me but no way enough to fork out all that cash.

It's a tiny bit sharper and the colours are a tiny bit more vibrant. The Japanese English subs are better too.

Exactly. I've looked at them both side by side... and there is no difference (apart from subs font).

Yeah the 1st 2 grabs were to show how the appearance of the subs differ, the timing of the subs are also a little different, hence the reason I couldn't get identical frames (should've taken the subs from a different point in the film really). Unless you mean the title shots, which was just down to bad timing
