Can I do it with WinDVD?

I'm sure ive tried doing this with BSplayer, MPC and VideoLan and none of them work with DVDs.

Can I have an idiots guide please? Which software do you use?

Not with WinDVD but those 3 players you mentioned work just fine. Change the output to WMR9 Rendrless, play the DVD, go to the film, load the subtitle. Or use install VSFilter, set it to always load, then load the subs when you're at the film (will work with any output renderer).

I had a gander at my set and the picture looks amazing IMO, considering its a film from 1954.

Do you even have to ask that question considering when the old CC is a direct port a LD?
