Does that mean some will be FS HD Masters?

Crime Story interests me as I've still not picked that one up. I was going to go for the new HK DVD but if a better one is coming along (stick extras on the HK DVD and you're done) I'll wait.

ABT/ABT2 also interest me, BITH and HB are fine IMO, as is The Killer (virtually, enough not to be too interested).

The two titles I'M MOST looking forward to are: FOL and Tai Chi Master.

So in short I'll likely get FOL, TCM, CS and ABT/ABT2 (maybe on the last two).

Top Stuff!

p.s - Thanks LD.

Well duh. But since they own titles that already have existing FS HD masters (eg Crime Story, Police Story 1&2, ABT1&2, etc etc), I'd be really surprised if they didn't make us of them.

Love Asia is an all-new title. Should be of decent video quality. Will it be HD? I don't know.

But "Mllionaires Express" will definitely be in HD. The HKL was.

By the way, this is a quote from my review of "Millionaires Express":
Note: The comparison shots I took in this DVD review are from the R0HK Universe DVD (lower screenshot).
The two versions differ as differnet cuts. The UniverseDVD features a long scene in which Sammo recruits the hookers. This is not present on the HKL disc. On the other hand, does the HKL DVD feature a scene with Yuen Biao entering the hookers' room and Rosamund Kwan following him outside the place where they kiss.
Furthermore, there are small changes here and there. It is hard to say which cut is the original intended cut. I only know that I'll keep my Universe disc for reference.
There is also a scene in the German version where Richard Norton takes a beating from Dick Wei after calling the Chinese "yellow".

Thanks LD. Maggie is always worth a watch.

I even loved the Naked Weapon extras with her, which should've been dull as dishwater but actually were not.

It's a sequel to Ong-Bak Grim. Hence the Ong-Bak up front, followed by a 2...

Police Story (Specs/Artwork)

Artwork is pretty shite. Ratner commentary.....Jesus!

More Artwork (Better)

Hope they use this cover as the first one has almost nothing to do with the film.

I wonder if they'll use the Fortune Star print. As for extras they look about the same as the HKL IMO but overall I'm sure it will be better.

Cover art is bog standard. Expected no better.

If they use the Fortune Star HD remaster with in-sync original mono I'll buy it.

Just because the commentary is there doesn't mean I have to listen to it. 8)

Artwork

Post by chenlung »

I like the artwork at DVD Empire :) . It isn't fake (got the flying cars which happens at the begining and a nice if not in-your-face shot of JC) except the gun. Represents the film best (even more so than any other version - except the Megastar DVD which isn't bad but feels 'empty' of detail despite capturing the right theme) 8) .

I've warned DD about the situation with the mono soundtrack :) .

I'm actually starting to wonder how to design a good artwork for this film as not many good shots exist. What do you guys think?

I've asked DD about the artwork:

1) To scrap the one at HK Flix (http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID.539 ... etails.htm) because of it's in-your-face shot of JC, new hand/gun (same 'stock image' as HKL's 'Heart of Dragon') and the China Bank building.

2) Use the one at DVD Empire (http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_item.a ... chID=98037) and restore the old black gun to retain the feeling of being 'true' about the film (and the now-vintage value of it's 'Classic JC' status) rather than creating a false atmosphere with the modernized gun and stuff.

So far i am inerested in SPL (the person who thought of killzone needs to be shot, if it's Bey then a severe beating :)). after that maybe i'll buy the better tomorrow films if they are better than the HKL DVDs. I hope they release Police story : supercop and drunken master.

heck maybe even Drive. i do not care what anyone says Drive was an awesome film.
