It's regarded by many as one of the finest British movies ever made and was on TV last week!!

You guys need to broaden your horizons. If the idea of a WW2-set mystery appeals check it out. It's available on DVD in the UK.

Nope. It's you're responsibilty to a; post screengrabs of a movie that is guessable, or b; provide enough info/hints to ensure that we do have a good chance of guessing it.
