Harsh, but probably fair :D The poor kid kept looking as if he was gonna burst into tears.

I agree, most people didnt seem that good IMO or stood out. Sharon also had Mark (Chico's vocal coach, the dude with the rainbow beard) on her panel.

Some of the groups were terrible. I don't rate boy bands :?

Simon has lost the plot.

That kid wasn't so good that he just HAD to have him in the final EIGHT.

Did you see the first of the heats last night Mark?
I wanted The Unconventionals to do well but they were pants as Simon said, Leona (sp?) was cute :) The McDonald Bros. reminded me of Journey South, good voices but a bland song.

Just to add to Tom's comments: Also no more troll images. The forum has had more than enough of said images.

Otherwise keep up the good bargain work and useful additions to the forums :)

I watched the first part, but haven't seen who was voted off yet. I have it on tape, will get to it later.

None of the performances impressed me tbh. Despite the ludicrous praise, none of these acts are a patch on last year's bunch. For the first time I don't even care if I see next week's show, though I'll probably tune in out of habit.

I can't believe the judges (who are getting worse each year) drooling over the horrendous Michael Bolton-wannabe. He was passe in 1990! The Unconventionals at least tried to be entertaining; the criticism was OTT. And yes, the last girl was well fine. :D

McDonald Bros. were even worse this week and should have gone IMO :D Too much modulation and Sailing is a naff song anyway  I thought 4Sure would go, and good thing too, they were rubbish. You're In My Heart is not a song I've ever liked.
Robert and Ben are the best of a bad bunch I guess, Robert was too OTT bounding around - who does he think he is - Chico? :D But I admit Ben was very good, and Maggie May suited him to a tee - anyone think it would have been better if he did it without the rocking part?

Kerry was the only one I liked, she did her song bang on. The rest were pants. Seriously, I kept wishing it would be over. Ben stinks, with his sub-Michael Bolton raspy rocker crap. Ashley sings like a foghorn and looks like a toilet brush. Pathetic stuff.

I agree about Kerry, she was very good. I Don't Wanna Talk About It is a beatiful song.

 re Ashley, that made me laugh.

My mum likes him :D

But overall I think the line-up is worse than last year, I tell you who I don't like - Ray. Weedy voice, and only one person can sing Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong :x

Apparently he based it on Rod Stewarts swing version :? From an album called The Great American songbook I believe.

I liked the song "Bring It On Home" (?) - I don't know how Rod sang it but I liked it in a gospely-soul sort of way, I can imagine Sam Cooke singing it like that. :)

Next week (or rather this coming Saturday) is Big Band week, (I think) I wonder what songs they'll do?

How can Simon say Kerry is still not "giving 100% or that extra spark" or whatever it is after her emotional performance, which was bang on, yet cream his pants over Ashley? :?

Because he sees Ashley as pop chart fodder and Kerry as having less appeal with kiddies who buy singles.

Next week they're doing Tony Bennent songs (AFAIK) WTF :? How dare they! :x
I know the theme weeks provide variation I guess, and give them more of a test, but wasn't it better when the contestants could sing whatever songs they wanted and so could be within theyre comfort zone and clearly do they're best? Making acts doing something theyre not comfortable with is not good for a record company :?
I can't see Ben doing well doing a big band song well and after what Ray did to Wonderful World he should rightly die on his arse.
Maybe theyre trying to make it different from the last 2 series.

Songs for this week:

The MacDonald Brothers - Cant Take My Eyes Off Of You
Eton Road - Mac The Knife
Kerry - They Cant Take That Away From Me
Ben - Smile
Robert - Mr Bojangles
Dionne - For Once In My Life
Ashley - Moondance
Nikitta - Sway
Leonna - Summertime
Ray - Aint That A Kick In The Head

McDonald Bros. will hopefully go with Can't Take My Eyes Of You - its all wrong. IMO Ben would be better doing Ain't That a Kick In The Head than Ray - you need a really good, silky voice for Smile, which neither Ben nor Ray have with respect (certainly not Ray).

Isn't Mr Bojangles by the Beatles?

Ben has a good voice (IMHO) but he's not the type to sing Smile :?

From Digital Spy:
Saturday, October 28 2006, 10:23 BST - by Daniel Kilkelly

Rod Stewart has let slip his true feelings about the X Factor contestants - describing their performances as "rubbish".

The rocker stayed tight-lipped when asked to comment on the acts while appearing as a guest on last week's live show, but he has now criticised the show for its lack of real talent.

"To tell you the truth I thought so many of them were rubbish," he told Virgin Radio host Christian O'Connell, not realising that his comments were being broadcast. "I was very disappointed with the Scottish contingent, especially the two boys in the kilts. I didn't want to say it on the programme. The overall quality is nowhere near what it is in the States."

Suddenly realising his mistake, Rod added: "Are we live on air? I wish I was dead. I'm trying to stay neutral."
:D

Think last years contestants were much better :?

The "twist" tonight is a double eviction

Ray: Ain't That a Kick In The Head (Dean Martin) - Didn't like his voice (annoying cod Deano voice), good performance though.

Dionne: For Once In My Life - thought she was good, Simon was mean and insulting (as usual)

Nikita: Sway - classic song, who recorded it originally, Rosemary Clooney, Dean Martin? Thought she was OK, why sing in a cod Spanish accent though? :? This affected her vocal, no question.

Ben: Smile - Didn't like the sub Michael Bolton/Steve Tyler vocals on this Nat classic (some notes should have been softer) but somehow I loved it as a whole, the performance as a whole was great, emotional IMO. He played the piano with the band too.

McDonald Bros: OK but not very good either :?

Leona: Classic song and great performance, maybe too much vocal gymnastics :? Learn to hold a note.

Kerry - what I heard was very good. Simon's "hotel" comments annoy me

Eton Rd: NOOOOO.. utter crap IMO. What a mess.

Robert: Thought he was very good, that is a very hard song to sing.
"I have to look after my unborn child" - huh?

Dionne has already gone  Ashley and Kerry in the "Sing-off".

I hope Ashley goes, he was poor tonight and looks like a toilet brush.

Kerry was sent home by Louis even though Ashley fluffed his lines  Ashley was crap and unproffesional, Simon can shove the show up his ass :x

I'm angry Kerry went - it should be about performance on the night not "potential" Ashley was clearly the worst
