Tell me about it. A few months back I had a rant about it in the Hudson Hawk thread.
The Mono doesn't mean much to me when the other DVDs virtually have Mono anyway.
That was a 2.0 surround remix, a very faithful one and has been approved by Marty, but it's still not the original sound mix - which should be on ALL RELEASES.

The R2J of the Aliens 2-discer has a DTS track, not that it helps much since it's still the same old glorified stereo surround track from '99. It also lacks the seamlessly-branched '86 theatrical cut. Not worth bothering with IMO.

Oh yeah, more R2J unique DVDs:-
Heat has DTS, but the Warner 2-discer pwns in the extras department.
Blade 1 has DTS, but the original English-language captions for the foreign dialogue are entirely absent and the extras pale in comparison to the Western releases. Both look inferior IMO to their Western counterparts and a DTS track doesn't tip the scale IMO.

No one talks about the Nagasaki bomb, it's always just Hiroshima. Just becuz the damage was less and it happened a few days later doesn't mean that the Nagasaki bombing is redundant, damn those history scholar bastards. FFS a lot of people as Brad demonstrated don't know the name of the 2nd city which was bombed.

Isn't Blade Full-rate DTS? I mentioned Heat but it was inside another post so hard to see.

I'm afraid you're right. We're told there was two bombs but only the name of one.

I "think" but could be completely wrong that Hiroshima has the museum. Hardly a tourist actress but something I'd still want to see, like I said a very humbling experience no doubt.

I have no idea, look it up if you want cuz I don't care. Blade is a fun popcorn film but it's hardly warrants spending the high price tag which R2Js go for IMO.

Tourist actress?! You mean attraction. To quote Richard Ashcroft "the drugs don't work, they just make you worse."

Eh? We know the names of both "Little Boy" (Horishima) and "Fat Man" (Nagasaki).

I think thats the right way round.

I definitely knew about Nagasaki and Hiroshima...

Anyway FAO Brad, Recon and everyone....

I just visited Akihabara (please make a note of this name).

Just outside the station... is the biggest electronics shop in the world. They sell anything and everything to do with electricity - including but not limited to items that have nothing to do with electricity.

To give you an idea of how collosal this place is, on the first floor (which takes like an hour to browse) is like Dixons, Curry's and PC World all rolled into one. Up to the next floor - they have even more shit. Then I kept climbing and climbing and discovered that this place had like 20 floors or something. I didn't even realise how big this place was until I stepped outside and looked up - it's a big fat neon blazing skyscraper. Seriously it gave me a boner this big *points from shoulder, right down to wrist*

They sell a massive range of DVDs including the films mentioned here. They problem is that they are bloody expensive and only work out slightly cheaper than ordering online. Unlike us, Japanese DVD outlets do not seem to have a sale section. They always seel DVDs at full RRP. There are some cheap re-releases but only for pish Hollywood films.

Still there's nothing like seeing a whole bunch of Japanese R2s in one place.

Do not miss it.

Little boy and Fat Man - I've never ever heard those two names before.

Fair enough Grim but Eva's right Horishima gets much more press.

Neither do I and agreed. Blade 2 is much better.
Tourist actress?! You mean attraction.
There's a difference? I'll be a tourist so no tourist attraction but like I said it's neither a tourist attraction or an attraction.

Thanks for the post Bisc. It sounds nuts.

How much are the cheap DVDs? I had a feeling the DVDs wouldn't be any cheaper (I'm surprised they are at all). Personally I'd buy a few just because you're there and it's easier.

Did they have lots of copies of Kill Bill, True Lies and Taxi Driver?

It's your first time to Asia right? What's it like generally? Back to this store did you see any electronics not over here yet?

I can't see myself buying anything with the price of Japanese goods.

Didn't you take history in high school?

Whatever, it's been years since I bothered to think about this stuff.
Blade 2 is much better.
Yup, and both films are loads better than the dire 3rd film Trinity. The weekly Blade TV series is reportedly better than Trinity.
There's a difference?
Haha, your attempt to cover up your mistake doesn't fool anyone. You fail.

Aye they have copies of the films you mention. I just checked out HMV and Tower Records. Again neither have a sale section and the prices are identical. In other words, once a DVD comes out in Japan - that SRP will stay the same.

The cheap re-releases are around 2500 yen. These are bare bones releases of mainstream hollywood titles that can be bought much cheaper at home. The average SRP of a typical DVD ranges from 4700 to 5060 yen.

I've been to India but never to a Far Eastern country. Tokyo is a huge megalopolis and IMO dwarves any other skyscraper filled city I've been to. It makes NY look like St Albans (no offence Grim). It can however feel lonely if you travel alone. Today I had a great time because I met some friends from Uni. Tomorrow I got a wedding party to go to.

Cheers again Bisc. What you just happened to see friends from Uni there?

Those prices are why I'd only pick up Kill Bill, Taxi Driver and another (maybe). Titles I'd really want.

Huh? What mistake I've not made one. Re-read what I actually said, you've misunderstand what I said.
