I.e. Dawn of the Dead Remake, which is the only director's cut to have DTS.

Cool. How long for? What are you going to do and visit? I'm going in January, for 10 to 14 days.

Personally out of that lot I'd only say Kill Bill and maybe True Lies are worth the extra cost. If you can find Kill Bill for a good price I'd definitely pick that up.

If you find Kill Bill post back where and how much so I can also pick it up.

FYI regarding "True Lies" the R4 the only other version worth considering is about £11-13 delivered so roughly the same as the Japanese R2 which is £15. The R4 is uncut, anamorphic but no extras and just DD5.1.

The UK R3 is under £5 but is cut and the R1 is non-anamorphic. Yes I know there's an uncut UK R2 but that's long since OOP so no point mentioning it.

(I just got a potential job offering, so i'm moving there for a while)

And Hiroshima? I'll be visiting I bet it's very humbling. Where was the other bomb dropped? How did you get your Ghibli already?

Post back when you get back, tell us all about it. I hope you have a nice time.

p.s - Japan for just 1-2 days, that's short after the 1-2 hour flight from Thailand.

Brad I booked my Ghibli ticket 2 months in advance. It is advisable to do so because they are usually sell out very quickly. They only let 200 visitors every day.

No Hiroshima for me - just Tokyo, Kyoto and Yokohama. I'll probably visit again depending on how this trip goes.

Nice find there Eva. Going by this DVD Beaver comparison the Taxi Driver JP SB looks loads different:

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDReview ... review.htm

I'm not convinced it looks better mind you. The Mono doesn't mean much to me when the other DVDs virtually have Mono anyway.

Shame Sony haven't paid for the rights to the Criterion commentary. This is dying for an SE!

Any idea Eva where Taxi Driver JP SB can be picked up?

It's not on Yes Asia or CD Japan. It's on Amazon Japan but the sites in Japan which makes life harder and it's 4935 before postage. I may have to wait for Japan on this one.

p.s - So far for me I'd only pick up Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Taxi Driver. The rest have a perfectly fine alternate for much, much less money.

Here's another:

Jurassic Park: Superbit

It's said to have a completely different DTS Mix than the R1 DTS (with Extras) sounding far, far better.

Fairy beaver.

@ Eva: Taxi Driver: SB doesn't have Mono:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=250165

I'm still interested to see how the alternate transfer fairs. It's a masterpiece. I would've picked up Heat: DTS JP (no extras) if the SE hadn't come.

Same with us..however with the new visa rules you cannot do border runs to renew the 30 stamp more then 3 times in a row...then you must leave the country for at least 90 days before re-entering.
Since i'm moving here for a while to work..i need to get a non-immigrant visa. I still need to leave the country for stamp renewal every 90 days, but the visa is valid for up to one year...and can easily be endorsed with a work permit (assuming i'm lucky enough to get one).

Ohh I didn't know that cheers. I knew about the 30 day rule but not that it's changed.

The max. I've ever stayed is just under 30 days.

How hard is it to get a work visa?
