So was this the Dragon Dynasty or the KillZone thread?
What will happen with HKL now if White and Logan have "jumped ship"? (That's why they are so slow with all release these days? Or the last 2-3 years )
Anyways, only way I'll "forgive" the Weinsteins for all the crap they've done (and not only to Asian cinema) is if they manage to put out the festival print of Bullet in the head---REMASTERED preferably. Any one up for a petition for that? AFAIK Woo has this print in his own personal vault... afaik it was even shown on festivals here in NORWAY. Shouldn't be THAT hard to trackdown...
This DVD looks awesome, thanks LD. I look forward to more decent releases. I may upgrade if:
1. I like the film enough, when I get around to seeing it
2. It's not expensive
For now I'll keep my HK DVD.

A LOT less extras seems to have become the norm. The AV is about the same.
Camerawork and editing during the fights were bad (compared to 'SPL'), the only highlight being the first half of the end fight between Donnie and the main bad guy. Plot and characters weren't highly developed (Donnie poses and acts a stock character as usual). In other words, DTG was a disappointing movie.
The Kenji Kawai score (I'm pretty sure he did the music) in Dragon Tiger Gate is atrocious.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Police Story on the way, with low RRP of $19.95, so expect it to be cheap online.
LOL, Brett Ratner commentary.

The 1985 action classic will feature a 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer, English & Cantonese Dolby Digital 5.1, Cantonese DTS Surround and English subtitles. Bonus materials include a full-length commentary track with "Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner and Hong Kong cinema expert Bey Logan, an all-new exclusive interview with Jackie Chan, "A Tribute to Jackie Chan" featurette with Ratner and Logan, "Stunts Unlimited" retrospective with members of the celebrated Jackie Chan Stunt Team, rare deleted scenes and a trailer gallery. Retail is $19.95.

Bey isn't either, although he is quite knowledgable about Jackie. Ratner and Bey do have one thing in common, though: They have both been working with Jackie.
I often wondered about the whom we hear in a few commentaries. Why was Gary Daniels on the "Full Contact"-commentary? LOL. It was a cool commentary, though.
I've no problem with Ratner on a Jackie Chan film commentary he's bound to know something and the more commentaries it makes the less time he can be making films.
As for the DVD it doesn't look "that" much better on paper (crucial point) to the HKL. Not that I care it's overrated anyway.
It's good to see the SPL trend is continuing. Come on give us FOL!

Yeah, but Bey does comms for all manner of films... Ratner is only wheeled out for his Yoda-like wisdom when it's Jackie. Like making Rush Hour has imbued him with a deeper knowledge that those who have been followed Jackie since the 70's.
According to Ratner, he has been a fan of Jackie since the 1980's.
I agree that Ratner isn't the ideal person on that commentary. Sure Brigitte Lin would have been cool, or Fung Hark-on (does he speak English?), but having Ratner and Logan in conversation about the film will serve us with a lot of annecdotes, I'm sure of that.
I have to admit, though, that I was expecting a JC movie when I watched the film for the first time at the theatre. I missed the JC trademarks, but in the end was not disappointed by the film though.
Rush Hour is an entertaining movie. However, because we expect more from Jackie, and the movie didnt deliver 'jackie-action', most Jackie fans are dissapointed.
So judging it as a simple Hollywood buddy action flick it's quite decent. Judging it as how good it COULD have been, if Jackie would have been given more opportunity to show off his class, it's disappointing.
Anyway, as I've stated before, I like both movies. I dont own them on DVD or anything, and they're nowehere near as good as Jackie's best movies, but I'd definately rate the Rush Hour movies about Lethal Weapon or stuff like that...
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...
