A maths puzzle: What does X equal?

Anyone know the answer?

I'm uber-shite at Maths, but after some scrawling I got AN answer but unlikely to be THE answer, lol

X=5H-20

I'm curious...

There are 9 equations and from those you have to work out what X equals.

A=N
R=F+E
T=4
N=P+R
M=E+1
E=F*sq
X=A-2M
F=H-T
P=5M

*sq = squared

X = A-2M

<=> X = N - 2(E+1)

<=> X = (P+R) - 2(F²+1)

<=> X = (5M + F+E) - 2[(H-T)²+1]

<=> X = [5(E+1) + (H-T) + (H-T)²] - 2[(H-4)²+1]

F = H-4

<=> H = F + 4

<=> H = (H - 4) + 4

OK, this didn't get me any further. Let's try something else.

I actually get a numerical value obtained from a quadratic equation....

(using the quadratic equation calculator, as I have left my calculator at work)

answer, x = 0.5 plus 0.70711 i
and x = 0.5 minus 0.70711 i

where i is the imaginary number, square root of negative 1 (I presume).

My working:

X = A - 2M
= N - 2(E + 1)
= N - 2(E - 2)
= P + R - 2F(sq) - 2
= 5 (E + 1) + R - 2F(sq) - 2
= 5E + 5 + R - 2F(sq) - 2
= 5F(sq) + 5 + R - 2F(sq) - 2
= 3F(sq) + R + 3
= 3F(sq) + F + F(sq) + 3
= 4F(sq) + F + 3

X = 5H + 20
= 5(F - T) + 20
= 5F - 20 + 20
= 5F

Therefore, 4F(sq) + F + 3 = 5F

Quadratic equation is 4F(sq) - 4F + 3 = 0

Solved using the above website.

But Mark, x = 5h - 20 is not correct.

Argh my answer is incorrect. I misunderstood the 5H - 20 as one of the equations.
