DVD Talk wrote:Finally, looks like Synapse is releasing this bad boy. I was always upset that I missed the Elite version. Here are the specs via Bloody-disgusting.com via Fangoria.:
Synapse Films gave Fangoria a peek at the cover art and the full disc specs for its new edition of MANIAC COP, William Lustig’s original 1988 chiller starring Bruce Campbell and Tom Atkins as a young police officer and a lieutenant who take on a superhuman killer (Robert Z’Dar) garbed in the blue uniform.
The disc sports a new 16x9-enhanced high-definition 1.85:1 transfer remastered from old vault materials, with new DTS 6.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio tracks along with the original 2.0 Surround sound. Supplements include:
• Audio commentary by Campbell, producer/writer Larry Cohen and others
• New featurette with Z’Dar
• Additional scenes filmed for Japanese TV broadcast
• Theatrical trailer
• TV spots
“Other surprises” are also promised, and the disc will retail for $24.95.
Its got to better than Synergie's laughable R2 "Collector's Edition" from some years ago
I never heard the commentary.

Now all we need are good versions of part 2 and 3 still its a must buy for me for the commentary alone, love the film still, very funky stuff on display. Wish it was cheaper mind you. Will be nice to see the film uncut for once.
Just a shame we dont get a documentary on the film shucks.
I bought it last night (along with Street Trash special edtion) both for about 18 quid delivered not too bad. The only extras not on the old Elite dvd seem to be the new interview with funky face guy
Street Trash: Meltdown edition is pure excellent, I love it, Romero, check out the documentary on disk 2, that is pure gold, it is really really good, one of the best i have seen on dvd
Yup thats why I waited all this time for the 2 dvd version, cannot wait to see the film, just hope it doesnt disturb me too much as one effect that freaks me out a bit, is body melting.
