Tsui Hark's The Lovers : 5/5
:drunken:
Perhaps the most beautiful movie I've ever seen.
Tsui Hark and James Wong are gods.

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

An indie horror movie, and its a great one. I really enjoyed this movie about an intelligent guy, who can read books in minutes, but there something not right about him. The gorey scenes are excellent, and there are great cameos from Olivia Hussey, William Atherton, Sean Young, Udo Kier and Dee Wallace. The only thing with the movie is the ending, it does leave you heardscratching, but Andrew van den Houten's debut movie is a cracker

Well they did translate Kohee (Japanese for coffee) as "hot chocolate"...Shingster wrote:The Kiki dubtitles are an accurate translation of the original Japanese. So much so that no other DVD release has bothered to include an independant translation.
Unless of course the r2uk only has dubtitles of the Disney dub?

Windtalkers 0.5/5
God was I bored by about the 50min mark... seemed like a bad made for TV movie but with a better effects budget (oh look another shell landing causing stunt men to bounce off trampolines; I wonder when we'll see an arm chopped off again with a katana, oh not long then; hmm must be about time for another pained and/or crazy look from Mr Cage... yes, yes there it is...)
Really really disappointed with Mr Woo
So disappointed I turned off and watched...
The Punisher 3/5
Second viewing still a good little stand by, it cant quite make up its mind whether to go the whole hog with the comic hero/villan thing with the "Russian" being a bit too comicy compared with the other bad guys
Still perked me up no end after Windtalkers
May get around to watching the rest, but I doubt it

Not a bad sequel, I was expecting worse, most people said that the sword fighting wasn't that good, when reading the reviews on the net. They are not bad, some of it is really really good. Especially the wire fight. The story was good, I enjoyed it.
Overall a good sequel, not that bad

The Host - 3,5/5
Better than I expected. Not the most original monster movie ever made, but it did manage to avoid most clichés. The amount of (sometimes rather dark) humour was a positive surpise. Even the GCI was decent. A nice movie, but I don’t really see why people are getting so terribly excited about it.
Sheitan – 2,5/5
God damn, Vincent Cassel is crazy. And that’s an understatement. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything that equals his performance in pure insanity. The movie itself is a very 80’s kind of horror movie with a bunch of irritating teens going countryside and spending a night in the wrong house. Thoroughly disgusting, but rather effective. The opening scene (with flashing lights) gave me a headache.
Time – 3,5/5
That’s a temporary rating only. I wasn’t expecting a melodramatic and dialogue driven movie filled with humour from the master of silence. Not one of Kim’s best film IMO, but everyone else seems to love it. It was a very interesting film, though. Even with my false expectations I greatly enjoyed it. I think I should give it another chance as soon as possible. I might like it even more on the second viewing.
