Hey Eva, Maybe there will be a 14 disker like the comments mentioned, As yet, there is no mention of Superman Returns on DVD. So may wait, until Nov, to see if they do release this. Would be cool if they did.

But yeah you right, release 2 versions of Superman 2 is daft!!!!. Why not just have it all in one, ala what they have done for Superman 1. There u have the original and 2001 cut

What does Supergirl have to do with Christopher Reeve? Other than the poster on her bedroom wall connecting them.

Still I'm pleased they're all getting released seperately so I can pick up:

1. Superman 1 SE
2. Superman 2 SE
3. Superman 2 Richard Donner Cut

I'll pick Superman 2 SE up later though just in case the Richard Donner cut wipes all over it.

Are we to assume Superman 2: RD Cut and Superman: Extended Cut are NOT going to have DD5.1 remixes? Odd when there is already a DD5.1 mix from the Superman: EC (from the current DVD).

Shame if that's the case.

Great news, for the UK version, it seems that Superman 2 will be a 3 discer, so it will have both cuts of the film :D
Superman II Three-Disc Special Edition

Original 1980 Theatrical Version by Richard Lester

Unwittingly released from Phantom Zone imprisonment, three super-powered Kryptonian criminals (Terence Stamp, Sarah Douglas and Jack O’Halloran) plan to enslave Earth – just when Superman (Christopher Reeve) decides to show a more romantic side to Lois Lane (Margot Kidder). Gene Hackman (as Lex Luthor) also returns from the first film and with a top supporting cast, witty Richard Lester direction and visuals that astound and delight, Superman II saves the day any day you watch it.

Disc One:

* Movie with commentary by executive producer Ilya Salkind and producer Pierre Spengler
* Soundtrack in Dolby Digital 5.1
* Theatrical trailer

Disc Two:

* Vintage TV specials The Making of Superman II and Superman 50th Anniversary
* New featurette First Flight: The Fleischer Superman Series
* Eight Famous Studios Superman cartoons mastered from superior vault elements:
o Japoteurs
o Showdown
o Eleventh Hour
o Destruction, Inc.
o The Mummy Strikes
o Jungle Drums
o The Underground World
o Secret Agent

Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut (Presented on Disc 3)

Superman II will delight fans who, for years, have been imploring Warner Home Video via voluminous numbers of petitions, letters, phone calls and e-mails to release the Donner cut. In fact, Donner had already shot most of the Superman II footage during Superman: The Movie. But as production on the sequel continued, creative differences between the director and the film’s producers became irreconcilable and Donner left the project. Although Richard Lester was hired to finish production, he chose to make major changes to the film, leaving only vestiges of Donner’s original vision and concepts in the version of Superman II that was ultimately released to theatres.

Now, nearly thirty years later, Warner Home Video is honoured to grant the wishes of countless Superman fans. With this DVD release, Richard Donner has become the first director in history to be able to complete a film he left during production with nearly all his footage “in the can.” Adding back a substantial amount of that unused footage, the director has seen his original vision restored and brought to fruition.

Most notably, the “Donner cut” restores the Marlon Brando role, filmed for, but not included in the final theatrical release version of Superman II. The legendary Brando’s performance as Jor-El has finally been restored in key scenes that amplify Superman lore and deepen the profound relationship between father and son.

With so many other changes, large and small, including a variety of Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) schemes to unmask Clark Kent as Superman, this Superman II will prove to be an eye-opening experience and an important addition to film history.

DVD Special Features:

* All new introduction by director Richard Donner
* Commentary by director Richard Donner and creative consultant Tom Mankiewicz
* New featurette Superman II: Restoring the Vision
* Additional scenes

Sweet. They aren't pricks like R1 Warner and selling the cuts separately.

Would be nice if the Matrix remaster was available independent of the stupid 10-disc boxset.

Agreed very nice. I'm still just getting though:

UK R2 - Superman: 4 Disc SE
UK R2 - Superman 2: 3 Disc SE

Cover art is up for the separate releases, boy it sucks:

I'm not a fan of Superman 3 but Richard Pryor SHOULD be on the cover, check out the trailer for the new SE's too.

Agreed, It would have been nice to have Richard Pryor on the cover, he had some great scene stealers in Superman 3. Saw the trailer, looks excellent, just love the superman music, and the Richard Donner cut looks great!!!, really can't wait for this now....

Hope that the R2/4 covers turn out like the ones for Batman SEs - just logos. Those R1 covers really suck.

Yeah good point I wonder if we'll get different covers. I like both the different Batman covers as at least they were good.

R4 13-discer set is up for pre-order at Ezydvd. It includes Superman Returns, but no Supergirl (like anyone cares, except probably Helen Slater's mum).
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/790083

I might buy it when the R2UK equivalent is like £20 in a year's time.

Supergirl is decent IMO, it's as good as Superman 3 anyway. AFAIK no box set is getting Supergirl.

So £19 or £21 then?

Superman and Superman 2 UK SE's on the 20th of November
Superman Returns R1 or UK SE on the 28th of November

Great stuff!

Oh dear an almighty cock up is upon us on the R1 UE Box Set:

For me anyway I hope the Superman cock up doesn't also affect the Superman: 4 Disc SE too.

Super Girl is a great film I think, the Anchor Bay 2 dvd edition is far supirior to this shitty Warner release anyway, no point at all in getting the Warner dvd.

Companies really have no quality control! morons.

Mmm looks like Superman 1978 doesn't have the original stereo audio, instead it uses the 2001 audio. If you want to hear the different, click on the following link

Warners UK will be replacing the dvd, but they are saying the disk is not defective, it just for purist.

Apparently that problem affects all releases of superman1 across all region. So far I only know of warner UK and US who have a replacement scheme up or in the works.
