I'm a fan. Bey goes to great length researching for each commentary (as proven by how the improved nature from his first commentaries) so he has lots of interesting stuff to say, he equally has an interesting tone to his voice so I don't doze off during them.
To many commentaries to mention have commentators who drone on and put you to sleep. It's a moot point that they may have something interesting to say if it's boring as hell.
He also always comes across as a nice guy and down to earth too.

Yi Long has multiple personality disorder (but he doesn't know it).

Bey does great commentaries, and I've always liked his asian film journalistic output since the days of Impact. Other stuff like selling out to miramax, I will wait and see, since there haven't been enough dvd releases yet to judge. Alas, his acting, screenwriting sucks, and he has delusions of (film-making) grandeur.

Relax, I wasn't passing judgement (sorry if that's how I came across) but merely stating the obvious, seeing as Yi Long is so convinced (well "99.9%" convinced) that he didn't say that.bradavon wrote: Not at all. It's a pity you have no faith or trust in us. I'm surprised you'd say something like that![]()

Not always. It seems to add that when the engine feels like it. Boy that pisses me off.tom2681 wrote:He said it. He just doesn't remember it.![]()
Wouldn't there be a "last edited by ******** " at the bottom of his post ?
It makes a post look a mess.
I had a feeling you meant that. As it would be very uncharacteristic of you.BiscLimpkit wrote:Relax, I wasn't passing judgement (sorry if that's how I came across) but merely stating the obvious, seeing as Yi Long is so convinced (well "99.9%" convinced) that he didn't say that.

I was just taking the piss (as usual), Bruce.
You'd think that you lot being Brits would be able to pick up subtle humour, considering that you invented it; obviously not as time and time you haven't. In future I'm still going to avoid using smilies, the internet's equivalent of canned laughter tracks.

i was there during the making of that, and here's a random fact for you,
during the end credits its 'bey' singing 'kung fu fighting'

Ow, I'm sure he's a nice guy in person, as I've heard from many who have met him already... so I dont have a problem with his personality or whatever...Blaizeyboy wrote:you mean 'i want to be jackie chan'?Yi-Long wrote: in a National Geographic documentary about martial artists wanting to get into HK Cinema you can see he has a job as casting-director, and he only casts american-asian actors cause they are considered 'cool' by the HK people.

I just disagree with him regarding certain points concerning asian cinema, like that he thinks it's OK to cut movies, or to cast popstars just so you have a nice first opening in HK, instead of thinking about the quality of the movie itself, etc etc.
It seemed to me the american asian guy got selected cause he was a 'hip' and english speaking guy, but martial arts wise he didnt look all that impressive to me...
I liked the girl who was auditioning. She was nice looking yet very very talented at martial arts. But maybe she doesnt get many parts cause a; martial arts arent all that 'hip' nowadays in HK, and b: she's a mainland chinese, who normally arent all that popular among cantonese... (bumpkins)
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

yeah i know who you mean, but for the life of me i can't remember her name.
I remember originally for the end of the doc that as the credits roll
bey sings on karaoke 'kung fu fighting' as this girl performs all the martial arts to camera. jesus christ she was fantastic, i remember there were two takes done, it was amazing watching her just switch it on, there was alot of kicks, but mainly puches to camera, i only seem to have taken photo's of bey doing his karoke
it was filmed at 50's nightclub in HK, a cool but expensive bar in LKF. there wasn't anyone else from the audition section there though, except jessie gooding who i was hanging around with. but he he was nusing an injury to his leg.
so i presume bey specifically asked for her for the end
unfortunantly they were expecting more at the club, instead it was just crew, so alas it seems they didn't use this footage for the end which is a real shame, they just went with credits and bey singing over it
so it seems the footage (with a blink and you miss me cameo from the boy blaize) seems relegated to the cutting room floor
doh, its gonna bug me till i remember here name, im sure i heard she got work in hollywood, she might have worked on ultraviolet.
