The trailer for this looked pretty good I thought. Could be interesting
DVD Talk wrote:This film is based on the true story of the "Black Dhalia" murder and adapted from the book by James Elroy (LA Confidential). I am personally excited about it since most of Brian De Palma's works are so uncomforming, incredibly technical and well-shot. Eventhough his recent works have been more of misses than hits (remember Snake Eyes, Mission to Mars, Femme Fatale), I still think De Palma is quite underrated.
Rated R in the US and probably 18 over here, supposed to be rather graphic
Its only rated 15:

I'm eagerly awaiting this. De Palma is superb director.
Recently saw the terrific Dressed to Kill, the fun deliberate self-parody Raising Cain, the fun rock-opera Phantom of the Paradise; and rewatched the superb Blow Out and Carrie in their OARs for the first time.

Those featurettes are really a 50+ min doco split into segments. So meaty extras there. You can find the first review of the new R1 SE on dvd-basen; no comment improved PQ since it was the reviewer's first time seeing the film on DVD.
Hmm... the new Casualties of War was an improvement in terms of image so I was wondering if Body Double will be likewise. I hope so as that would give an added reason to buy. If it's just the doc, well....

If they went to the trouble of remixing the film into 5.1 on the new SE (which they did), I seriously doubt that they would've have ignored the transfer.
Anyway I'll be getting this in November, we can do a comparison with your barebones then.
I didn't think it was that great. Some nice atmospheric touches but kinda pish tbh. I've only seen two other De Palma works and they were Scarface and the Untouchables. Loved both.
