You're looking at it from the wrong angle.
Some people are paid by the FBI-Universal-CIA-WB-MPAA-TakeYourPick to do this. :shock:

They spend all of their time:
- Downloading genuine movies and renaming them to make them look like porn.

They do this to try and hide those files.

You who want to download movies and you don't find any -> discouraged.
You who want to download porn and find something else -> discouraged.

When you're downloading something, check the different filenames under "file details".
The most popular filename (at the top) is probably the right one.

P.S. You should not mention movie titles in a thread about P2P. I don't think we're allowed to do this in this forum.

That doesn't mean anything.
From his perspective the guy is downloading a file named Batman.
From your perspective you're downloading a file named Porn.

Don't trust the comments Only trust the popular filenames.

Recently, I decided to download a porn video. To my surprise, when I tried to preview the file after a few megs, I was presented with a fight scene from a Chang Cheh film.

plenty of porn is copyrighted too you know, just because people only put up chunks of a given release doesnt make it any less so

still, a few years back when progs like Kazaa started apearing on the scene we carried out an experiment involving myself and a friend from uni singing about monkeys. tracks were cut to match the exact length of tracks in the uk top 10 and replicated numerous times with differing titles (eg name-of-track... name-of-track[this is real!!] etc etc) and set up a bunch of computers sharing the files to the p2p programs. We left them up about a week then removed them before downloading all versions of the given songs we could find to see how far our monkey experiment had propagated. Suffice to say its not hard to see how people who spread viruses have successfully infected some obscene percentage of all files being shared accross p2p networks!!

the moral of the story, downloading from p2p networks is baaaad, because quite apart from all the viruses and dodgy files there are still plenty of idiots like me out there, playing with peoples minds

I havent really downloaded any porn, but I mainly use bittorrent for anime and sometimes a movie, and havent had any problems with it so far...

That's because Bittorrent is not really a network. It's just a private network created around one file by the seeders and the leechers.

When there's just one file it's easier to tell whether it's fake or real.

It's a lot more difficult with Kazaa and the ED2K network.

Sort of...Basically they download the movie and then share it under another name.

Oh yes.

I have a friend who works for the french "Internet Police".
He has 2 computers running with EDonkey 24/7. His job is to download Eminem songs, LOTR and Matrix movies and rename them so people will have more difficulty in finding them.

The internet police doesn't have the rights to stop the guys who make the files available for download (yet).
