Even better, Chow Yun Fat is still attached, and he’ll be joined by Tony Leung, Ken Watanabe and Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi-Lung in an epic tale set in the year 208, which chronicles the last days of the Han Dynasty. And with six units filming at once on a battle that, according to history featured one million warriors, expect this to be something truly special.

This project has been in the talks for so long. Finally it's going to be made.
I'm very happy that John Woo and the 2 best actors from his previous HK-movies are teaming up again.

I think it's going to be great if John Woo doesn't try to copy the Yimou films and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but tries to define his own style in this genre, hopefully with some typical Woo-moments, known from his Heroic Bloodshed movies.

Yeah, Woo's been involved in doing a Chinese historical epic for almost a decade, and it seems as though it's finally coming to fruition.
You're right about these two being the best actors from his previous films. Both Chow and Leung are huge reasons as to why Hard-Boiled works so well; I always cite the scene where Leung has to kill his old crew after shooting Uncle Hui as one of my favourites in cinema.

Woo for me is hard to even beleve a single word about any of his projects latley, I am sick to death of the 500 films he is apprently making, started filiming, cast etc.. and most are pure bullshit blatant lies!

When they actually start making it and there is proof, then we can talk about this film. I am just so sick of the shit on the net confirming he is making a film and it turns out he maybe read a script one time in the past or something else.

I dont expect a good film anymore from him anyway, he is a Hollywood bitch now. He has been watered down so much not even sure why he is bothering anymore. Woo is dead, new Woo is here to stay.

But prove me wrong Woo!?

What was that old running joke on DVDdebate? That John Woo was imprisoned when he came to Hollywood and that his retarded twin brother Trevor Woo had been directing the Hollywood films?

There's no way a retard could direct HardTarget, Broken Arrow or Face/OFF.

And Romero, you don't seriously believe blaming Woo for all the internet rumours will do any good at all?

It's mostly fanboys on the IMDB. Woo's company might've licensed a few videogames, etc but a lot of these remain in "development hell" (or at least that was the case until Uwe Boll came along).

I havent blamed Woo at all (apart from the quality of his last few films and his silly producing and lack of interest in great scripts!) Yet, He keeps being interviewed and saying he is going to do this or that film, and really he has no intention of doing them and he knows it, or some dumbass interviewer mis quotes him! and his friends and co producers.

I blame the inbred internet morons who bonk there pets and moms, hard in the butt.

He did the swordplay flick Last Hurrah for Chivalry 20+ years ago (before he become the gunplay master) and that B-picture with Jackie and Sammo in the 70's. Have you seen either one Brad? We don't know how he'll cope with a film of this ilk, seeing he might've of gotten worse in recent years or improved significantly in the 20+ years since Last Hurrah.

From doing a couple period martial arts flicks 20+ years ago, no one can guess how he'll handle such a film now. So making generalisations like you did is unjustified.

Nope but AFAIK Woo tends to love action flicks to much. Look at Windtalkers, far better than most said but even that had action which felt out of place.

Yeah I think Windtalkers got a bad "rep" then again I really cringed when I saw those inserted stock footage of the ships firing...

As for this, I think it could be great.

I have great faith in Woo... Remember that he "grew up" with the classic HK sword play movies and worked as an assistant to Cheng Che (sp?) for years before getting his own shot at directing.
