Yeah, just read about this.
Quite a shame, as he got people interested in wildlife again and was more than able to make one laugh.

At least he's one of the few who died doing what he loved.
RIP.

Yeah, he did make you laugh (well me anyway) - at least he also cared about wildlife and wanted to protect Australian animals.

A shame.

RIP :(

Shame, his show entertained me immensely as a child.

I think maybe he would have preferred it this way, rather than dying an old man. RIP Steve.

tbh im suprised he wasnt killed before now..

personally i never liked the man, even though he did good things for the conservation of crocs and such, i just thought he was an idiot "crikey this is one of the most poisones snakes in the world" *pokes it in the head with a stick* "crikey it nearly bit me" well duh you just pissed it off....just thought he was a little stupid

but even so i wouldnt wish death on anyone, especially by that, sounds nasty..its sad he died when he had been doing so much for conservation and understanding of reptiles...but indeed atleast he died doing what he loved

I'm kinda in-between. I liked the guy, he did a lot of good things, seemed a good, entertaining guy, one-of-a-kind, honest, etc etc.
On the other hand, like Shen, I also sometimes looked at it like 'dude just leave that animal alone... stop poking it and annoying it... '

But as I said, I did like the guy. A shame to hear he has died. Why does it alsways seem to be the nice guys that die in such things. Why couldnt it have been Russell Crowe or something doing some scuba-bullying underwater and getting hit by a stingray or whatever it was!?

I feel sad for the wife and kids he leaves behind. They seemed like a tight loving couple ...

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

I'm with you Yi-Long - good entertainer, he loved animals (though I get what Shen means) and I also liked him, however on some occassions he went too far IMO - like when he took his baby son really, really close to a croc, he could have been eaten which I thought at the time was bloody stupid and showed neglect for the kid. :(

I read this today while on my way back from my Hols. It is sad indeed.

Without trying to sound cruel it was inevitable he'd be killed by a dangerous animal; he simply lived life to close to the edge.

He might've preferred to have gone this way anyway.
