hey,

encore viewing of...

The Missing Gun 4/5

Very different to Kekexili, Lu Chuan's debut film assaults on an audio and visual level but ultimately is a symbolic quiet journey for Jiang Wen's character. Very affecting if you want it to be.

Heat 4/5

Slightly overhyped IMO, but still a great film.

Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties

My girlfriend had the idea to watch this movie... well... who can say "no" to a girl.
I can't compare this one to Garfield 1, because I´ve not seen it, but I was quite disappointed that there is not much left from the good old TV-series.
I also wonder why Jennifer Love Hewitt is in this movie. Anyone could have played that role...
It´s also sad that about 90% of the jokes have got to do with the trousers of the bad guy, but well, it's a movie for kids.

2.5/5

Fulltime Killer

Watched this with a good friend of mine, because this is one of the movies I have, featuring the German soundtrack. Too bad that this way you don't get this international feeling (Andy Lau talking Cantonese, English and Japanese...)
Andy Lau is perfect for the role as the always smiling killer.
Great entertainment!

hey,

Angel Heart 3/5

Category III drama with Vivian Hsu and certainly a rough, sloppy ride many times. Middle section however has a surprising amount of good dramatic instinct considering this is correctly labelled as smut. Above average smut in the end.

The Sentinel - 3/5

Nothing groundbreaking or spectacular but I liked it for Kiefer's performance & for Eva's looks... LOL.

Miami Vice - 4/5
Fuckin' awesome. It's all been said in the other thread. One thing I'd like to say though is that the plot was NOT hard to follow and whoever thought it was must have had a bad day or so. Love the camera work and yes, romero, before you jump in... because it is shaky!

Every single aspect of the film can be described in one word: Cool! 8)

Stargate SG-1 Season 9: 4,25/5

The first 4 seasons of this show were great, but then from seasons 5 through 8 everything kinda slowed down and it got very boring.

But season 9 with the arrival of Ben Browder and Claudia Black (Farscape) brought a whole new dimension to the show.

Sure there's still the odd boring episode from time to time, but on the whole it was great.

Stargate SG-1 Season 10 (episodes 1 through 6): 4,75/5

I don't know why, but it seems that the show got smarter all of a sudden.
Great action, great CGI, great comedy.

Episodes 3 and 6 are brilliant. 8)

Awwww... look at him. He's a "Stargate"-watcher.

I hate them. All "Stargate"-fans are frickin' stupid and unintelligent people. Well, at least those who come to rent them in the store I work at.

"Do you have Stargaaate?"
"Yes!"
"Do you have the laaaast seasoooonn?"
"Which one is the last?"
"Can't you check it up in your compuuuter"

The que of customers waiting grows.

"Well, just go and look in the Stargate section as everyone else does."
"Thanks, asshole!"
"What did you just say?"
"Noooothing."
"That's what I thought!"

Random episodes of "Off-centre" 5/5

This is the best show on TV (maybe). Unforgivably cancelled and a DVD release is nowhere in sight. Created by the Weitz Brothers (American Pie) and even features some of the same cast members. Loads of cameos too.

Can I please be an exception to that rule ?

I think that Stargate (just like Farscape and X-Files) is good sci-fi.
It doesn't carry any deep meanings about life or anything, but it's fun.
Lots of explosions, techno-babble and comedy. I'm not looking for anything else in an american TV show. :D

It's true however that most fans are completely lobotomized and stupid.

Look, apart from the Emmerich-film, I haven't seen anything of "Stargate". But I do realize one thing in the store I work at.

Stargate-fans: Super-slow in thinking as if they ran into a wall altogether. Maybe a hidden secret message in one episode or so.

Sex and the City-fans: Females: Mostly superficial bitches with more make-up in their face than other women wear in their whole lifetime. Males: Idiots who lie about getting the series for their girlfriend.

Strangely, the coolest and nicest persons are those who like to watch the series that I like so much, which are "24" and "Lost".

Stargate SG-1 has been cancelled BTW.

American Psycho - 4/5

Was better than when I first saw it on VHS. Sharp satire of 1980's consumerism and greed. Christian Bale is awesome in it.

Angel Heart - 3/5

Atmospheric detective thriller with excellent cinematography and score, saw the supernatural twist coming from a mile away though. DeNiro stole every scene he was in, I miss his actual acting (which he hasn't done since the late 90's).

The Crying Game - 3/5

21 Grams - 4.5/5

Outstanding.
