How should we call niggers anyway ? We can't call them blacks because that would introduce a notion of colour (which IS racist).
Negro sounds quite offensive to me (slavery-like).
Can't call them coloured either (what about our yellow/red/white friends ?).
how about by their name if you know it, otherwise 'mate' , 'dude' , 'Mr', 'sir' , 'miss' , 'woman', 'lady'...etc etc

;)

and Yi - Long... trust me... plans are under way

Nah don't be. We need these kinds of threads.
That's the only way to keep a forum alive.

True. Brass seemed annoyed though as its' true, we have had this sort of thread before but I know what you mean :D

Was watching The Wright Stuff on C5 this morning, and there was a story about an airhostess (?) who was scolded as she called some people on the plane "fat", apparently a group of.. er, fa.. er.. overweight :D people (one was about 24 stone) was tipping the balance of the plane, and she said something to the effect of "Oi fatty, move out of the way, you're unbalancing the plane".
She could have been more polite IMO. Words like fat (how that woman used them anyway) do hurt, even if they may be true.

So what if we had this argument before? The subject was in the news again with the snow-white dwarf issue, so we felt like discussing it again. If someone can't be bothered to discuss it, then DONT. geez(!) :D

Funniest PC story of the week is OFCOM in the UK asking Boomerang (the cartoon channel) to edit all the Tom and Jerry cartoons with smoking in them. Or maybe they were edited already :D

I was shocked and apalled when I read that. Some genuinely funny moments in those cartoons involve smoking. One example is where Tom puts a blindfold over his eyes and takes a sentimental drag of his cigarette, as he knows that he's gonna get his arse kicked in the next scene :D

Yeah read about it too. TBH I'm outraged, but on the other hand it's no use fighting it ...
The world has indeed gone mad.

makes me want to buy my kids a package of cigarettes, just to piss those bastards responsible for this, off...

The public let Ofcom do that?, the public are idiots :x When did Ofcom become judge of what we could see, censoring a lighthearted cartoon?

Wasnt Tom and Jerry also changed a couple of years ago? The voice of the black housekeeper or something sounding to black or whatever?

I really do hope that one day everyone will come back to their senses again and we'll be able to get everything uncut and unaltered on DVD if we wish to do so...

Whats next? Cutting out all the scenes from Sergio Leone's movies where Eastwood is smoking? Comicbooks featuring Wolverine smoking altered?

It's all way over the top and plain ridiculous...

Wolverine has quick healing powers, so it shouldnt do him any harm (Although obviously the rest of the X-team all dies prematurely from 2nd hand smoking ;) )

Plus, it seems to have stunned his growth, as Wolverine is quite a short hairy kinda fella...

It's ironic about Mammy Two-Shoes when you consider so many blacks in current popular culture are offensive stereotypes. Ah, progression such as it is.
